Re: New system in Surrey

You’ve got quite the selection there, one for most occasions. I’ve had bikes for many years but mostly over the years it’s been sports bikes, tourers or adventure bikes until I did a few USA road trips with a friend, and you just have to do those on a Harley (although I had an Indian once which also...

Re: About charging and discharging batteries

Do you know if the firmware has been updated since Dave? I have an Elfin ready to plug in and would be good to not have to upgrade the firmware twice to be able to get the forced discharge working via modbus. Thanks. Yes it's Master 1.27 and Manager 1.19 it provides force discharge and works fine, ...

Re: New system in Surrey

If it's the Foxess facebook group, yes very likely to be me The strange thing is I do have a brother called Stephen Foster, but he is definitely not a Harley rider, in fact I think the only bike he ever rode was my moped nearly 50 years ago . I however do have quite a few motorbikes, one of which is...

Re: Battery relocation

Unfortunately Fox don’t make a lead set beyond the standard length, and the connectors are not standard MC4 as they are notched - the good news is that you can make up your own leads using the spare terminals that are provided with the inverter/batteries (usually in the bag with the user manual), ot...

Re: Error code 64

I wouldn’t panic, it will recover from the error but i’d suggest you contact your installer and tell them. It tends to happen when you have a large number of panels on a solar string when they are under full sun (around midday), if the power exceeds the string limits the inverter will cut the solar ...

Re: Battery SOC via API not available

It would seem the H3 pro has an issue with battery soc display - the H3 pro is unique in that it can accept 2 separate battery stacks and it looks as if the apps don’t seem to be able to display this properly (ironically if it was plugged into the other connector it would display ok). I’m not able t...

Re: FOX inverter H3-5.0-E

You shouldn’t switch the batteries off, this is a hybrid system and it needs the batteries to be on to keep running - if you turn off the batteries the inverter will go into standby and repeat the sequence you mentioned. With the batteries left on, if the system still repeats this sequence, there is...

Re: FOX inverter H3-5.0-E

Without seeing your solar generation as well it is difficult to tell as the inverter load seems low and even on a rainy day at this time of year it wouldn’t take much solar to be able to charge your batteries. Which batteries and what capacity do you have?. Once it is too dark to generate solar, the...

Re: FOX inverter H3-5.0-E

Can I just check what you meant by max grid at 25% ? Your 'minSoC' and 'minSoC on grid' settings from what you have said should both be set to 15% and 'maxSoC' should be left at 100%. I think the offline event is your inverter going into standby, which suggests that either the charge didn't work or ...

Re: No overnight charge from grid, despite setting schedule

Ok, glad it's working again - it sounds like it hadn't been set to 'start', now it is started it will stay that way (unless you stop it). The default password is normally 0,0,0,0 The inverter should have come with a user manual, but to be honest it's more of an installation manual - the good things ...

Re: App 2 - Logs GMT/BST log date confusion

The actual date times in the cloud are stored in UTC standard and then converted into your timezone, so it looks like what it is doing is it is telling you that the first is in 'GMT' timezone which is UTC time +00:00 , the second time appears to have been adjusted to be in the timezone BST which is ...

Re: FOX inverter H3-5.0-E

MaxSoC is only used for grid charging (solar ignores it), it's meant to be used to limit the amount of charge you get from the grid (if you have a charge period set overnight on a low tariff) so that there is some spare left to be filled by solar during the day. For some reason something is stopping...

Re: No overnight charge from grid, despite setting schedule

Those settings are correct for to charge from grid between 2am to 5am - were there any errors, which inverter model is it ?. Just running through a couple of things which may have affected it - Is your inverter time set correctly ? Is the inverter running in ‘Normal’ mode (you can see that on the in...

Re: FOX inverter H3-5.0-E

If the inverter is connected to the grid, as soon as the battery hits minSoC - it will maintain the battery at that level with a small of amount of charge - this in turn keeps the inverter from going into standby which is it’s normal behaviour. If the battery isn’t being maintained when it gets to m...

Re: FOX inverter H3-5.0-E

Is it not tied to the grid ? What you are describing is what would happen when there is not enough solar to run the inverter, at which point it turns to the batteries to supply power - when the batteries reach their minSoC setting the BMS would normally request charge from the inverter (via the grid...

Yes there is a System menu that shows you the status of battery, PV, Grid, Temp and also a History menu that has the Inverter Yield which shows your PV, Grid, Charge/Discharge and Export totals for the day (and since install).

Re: Help error code 242 Communication fault between manager and meter

I would suggest you create an agent account and add the T series to it, you won’t be able to add your existing site as it will be already registered (only Fox can do this) - if you email your local Fox service and tell them your installer has gone bust, and that you have a second inverter in an agen...

Re: Help error code 242 Communication fault between manager and meter

solved trying to set ct/meter gave a fault and shut down the inverter so there was no meter connected. I disconnected and testet the wiring, which was ok. After putting it all back together, 2hours later I decided to set again ct/meter. Now the option to choose meter came up and I could set a numbe...

Re: Help error code 242 Communication fault between manager and meter

Your pins are correct (3=B & 4=A), and it is A>A and B>B but I think the address should be set to 1 - the address ‘1’ at the inverter is the address it will poll.

The only other thing to check is that the meter is not disabled in the inverter settings.

Re: Change of WiFi provider

I don't whether this helps but the wifi dongle (datalogger) only has a 2.4Ghz wifi capability and newer routers that have both 2.4Ghz & 5Ghz bands name them to be the same SSID - this really confuses the dongle. Where this happens some people have changed the SSID's so they have a 'ssidname2.4' ...

Spoke too soon! Next round did the 'master': Master : 1.29. Slave : 1.01. Manager : 1.21 That part of the upgrade did throw the device into EPS mode as if the AC power failed which in this case tripped one of the RCDs in the consumer unit meaning power was lost to many circuits in the house. The sc...

Re: Wifi dongle SSID not visible

The first thing to say is that it is the dongle that broadcasts it's wifi ssid, so you need to stand near to it with your phone / tablet and search for the ssid that way. It is usually worth resetting the dongle before you do anything, that can be done by unscrewing the collar screw that holds it t...
