Re: Change Work Modes on Inverter?
It'll be interesting to see how this develops, the new Octopus Flux tariff relies heavily on either solar or battery export - I believe Foxess are very aware of the requirement, it's likely this could be a big selling feature in future, so lets keep our fingers crossed they develop a force discharge...

Re: Change Work Modes on Inverter?
Sadly not, the HA integrations are presently read only.
There is quite a bit of discussion about this being a requirement, so it may be possible in the future - some people have fitted switches to the CT clamp that reverse the flow which discharges batteries to the grid but it’s not recommended.

Re: Error codes 26 , 27 … (sorry for repeating this post )
Keep and eye on it, the error suggests that the grid voltage went outside normal limits, it could be a one off but best to monitor it. If you login to the Foxesscloud website, on the inverter details page there is an empty graph at the bottom of the page that allows you to select different inverter ...

Re: Batteries self discharging below 20%?
It’s normal behaviour, the inverter takes a small amount of power off the batteries to maintain operation and often the SoC settles, when that happens the charger will come on at low power to make up the difference.
The SoC can safely go down to 10% so nothing to worry about.

Re: Error Code 28 - 10 Minute Average Grid Voltage Fault
Ouch, hopefully moving won't be too much of a problem :( It sounds like you are close to the limit but perhaps not getting over 253v at the main fuse, the inverter will read a bit higher as it's pushing power back into the grid - the 10 min average limit is normally set to 253v so I suspect you're g...

Re: Homeassitant with H3
The dongle hasn't (yet) been cracked for direct access, I have used port forwarding and a bit of code to watch the messages which seem to be a basic encapsulated modbus message. If you are using Home Assistant I believe you can use the Foxcloud version of integration as it should be agnostic of inve...

Re: FoxESS V1 BMS protocol
That's an impressive and comprehensive piece of work, thanks for posting that - I've been thinking about logging and analyzing the CAN bus this will be extremely helpful. When you refer to the v2 protocol, do you know what governs the v2 protocol being used? is it only when you upgrade to a V2 BMS o...

Re: Battery charging and accounting for increasing solar
We had 16.4kWh of Cube batteries installed last September and have topped them up between 20:30 and 00:30 every day during our Octopus Go Faster off-peak as our winter solar output was insufficient. Yesterday, for the first time, solar filled the batteries and we exported a little. So how do I redu...

Re: BatCurSen fault
Have you also turned you BMS and batteries off ? the first couple of errors are because you turned off the mains, the battery faults could be because of low temps / low SoC. I would suggest you turn the BMS battery power to off, open the battery isolator and then turn it back on again and see if the...

Unfortunately it is fixed, once it has connected to your wifi SSID it follows the same channel allocation - sadly you can’t disable the W-xxxxxx ssid that it broadcasts either.

Re: Error Code 28 - 10 Minute Average Grid Voltage Fault
Ok slightly long answer - your DNO (distribution network operator) is required to keep the grid voltage in domestic homes within -6/+10% of 230v so the maximum should be 253v. The Foxess inverter will measure a little higher when your solar output is high and there is a safety limit set at 253v to s...

That normally means that the site is already registered to a user - have you already setup an account ?
If you haven't it may have been your installer - contact Foxess support and they will de-register it for you so you can set it up again.

Re: Can the home battery be turned off ?
hi, in winter time I notice that the installation is consuming continuously about 35 watt when there is no sunlight. With the PV installation producing energy for about 8 hours per day, that leaves a vast majority of the day where the installation is only consuming ... which actually "undoes&q...

Re: App reading not matching up with meter
The FoxESS inverter records it's inputs/outputs using a CT clamp (a clip on transducer), these are typically a few % points inaccurate depending on loads. Trying to compare the output of the inverter to it's inputs isn't a zero sum as there are losses in the ac/dc/ac conversions, in charging/dischar...

Re: CT clamps - how many do I need?
Are you only using the inverter as a battery store ? (i.e. no panels attached), if you only have one clamp fitted the display might be a bit confusing as it’s only really there to detect export so it knows to charge the batteries with excess solar, the house load wouldn't look correct as the solar w...

I’m glad you got it sorted out in the end, after we had tried all the obvious things I really thought you had a fault - and good to hear Fox support were on the ball.. With the charge switches a common mistake is to press the save button at the bottom of the page (which only saves the minsoc setting...

Re: BMS unresponsive to house demand
It’s not normal behaviour at all - the power flows and loads look correct, yet the battery isn’t meeting the demand - It’s possible that the CT clamp is in the wrong place but not obvious from the energy flow. If you can’t get your installer back to check over the system, I would definitely contact ...

Re: BMS unresponsive to house demand
Thanks for posting that, it all looks fine - we’ve checked all the obvious things and they are correct, as for the temperatures, unless the temps are -10C if the BMS/battery will allow charge it would also allow discharge but your discharge seems limited to 120w which is puzzling. Have you done a fu...

Re: BMS unresponsive to house demand
I should have added, looking at your graphs assuming the battery is sufficiently charged (> minsoc) the inverter/BMS will respond to demand almost instantaneously and so you would not expect any pull from the grid. When a large load such as kitchen hob, kettle or heat pump turns off there is a small...

Ok, very strange - can you have a look at your ‘real-time’ power flow, is the direction of power flow what you would expect i.e. towards the house for load, and away from the grid for consumption

Ok, no problem i’m sure that’s what would have been causing it :) Some of the app/website wording is vague and as you say the user manual only really tells you how to install it, so a bit of a learning curve to go up once you get one installed, i’m sure you’ll soon get up to speed with it - obvs any...
