Help needed with app set up

I’ve just had 3kw Solar PV, Fox H1(G2)&AC1(G2) Inverter and Fox 11.5KWH Battery System installed.

The electricians (sub-subcontractors) left at the end of the install without setting up the Fox Cloud 2 app. I’ve tried to set up myself unsuccessfully and I’m now left in limbo until who knows when someone can visit or call.

I’m hitting a brick wall and looking for help (I have read and followed step by steps on this site and elsewhere).

I’ve downloaded Fox Cloud 2 to my iPhone and I have registered. The Fox WLAN-WW dongle is slowly flashing red with the odd green flash. In the app I scan the dongle QR and it’s recognised, I add my WiFi and password to the app and everything looks good but when I add a plant and try to add a device the inverter or battery, I get an ‘Unrecognizable device type’ message.

I start again and try things manually. I turn off mobile data and search for the dongle on WiFi. I add the mtmt2020 password and my phone is connected. I open safari or chrome and try 192.168.11 and I get either nothing or “Safari can’t open the page The error was the URL can’t be shown”. I’ve tried it in chrome too.

I’ve tried turning off mobile data, private WiFi address, limit IP address tracking. I’ve reset the dongle itself.

What am I doing wrong and can I fix it?

If it's slow red flash with the occasional green, it is connected to your wifi and talking to the cloud.

The only thing then is to add the site to your username - you don't add the inverter or the battery, they are all bound to the datalogger, that is the serial number you enter when adding the site and as long as it has never been added to any other user it will save and then all devices should list in your app.

Thanks Dave, I’ve done all that and I’m in the app but no sign of any device.

When I add a plant there no devices at all. When I try to add I get, unrecognisable device

The slow red flash (and green pulse) mean the datalogger is connected ok, you won’t need to repeat that - so it’s just the add a plant bit where you add the dataloggers serial number, there is a QR code on it that when scanned by your camera will show the serial number but double check that any zeros are zeros and not letter ‘O’ as the sn takes both alpha and numerics.

Failing that i’d suggest you get the installer back, they should have set up the site initially as installer or agent so they can update firmware etc.. and remote diagnose and secondly they can then send you a request to add you as a user to the site which is much easier.

Thanks - made some headway.

I’ve managed to add the devices but the inverter is saying : Fault Code 240 - Manger fail to detect CT

That’s a hardware fault, the CT is a clamp device fitted near to the smart meter and measures the power flow so it can balance the load.

The inverter is not seeing the CT clamp which means there is a wiring fault somewhere in the pair between the meter connector just under the inverter to the clamp that will be where your smart meter is, a common problem is using wago connectors if the cable has been re-made and they don’t clamp the cores properly - you can obviously investigate yourself but you should really call the installers back to correct that.

Thanks Dave - makes sense as the grid is showing as 0w. Pretty shoddy from start to finish from the installers. But I’ll get onto them right away.

Appreciate your help
