Not a big deal, but why does the app show the battery reserve in percentage? I would have thought it might be better to show that in kWh. Is that an option?

Perhaps there is a good reason it is shown that way?

Not sure I have the perfect answer to this, other than to say a battery stack doesn't actually know it's own capacity - each battery reports it's SoC and cell voltages and the BMS works out a combined SoC for the pack.

If you know the design battery capacity, you can then multiply the SoC by that to get kWh remaining which is possible and if you take a look at the Energy Stats app it does exactly that and shows the amount of energy you have remaining,

Thank you Dave, sorry but what is the Energy Stats app? Is that in the Fox app?

It's a 3rd party app written by Al Priest, it is much more user friendly than the Fox apps - it uses the Fox OpenAPI to get data.

If you have an iOS device you can get it herehttps://apps.apple.com/gb/app/energy-stats/id1644492526 or if you have an Android device it is here https://play.google.com/store/apps/deta ... nergystats

Thank you Dave for that information.

Update: I have downloaded the app from the Google Play Store to my Android phone. The instructions in the app to "join" by getting the API doesn't seem to work for me. To get the API I had to do that on the PC and transfer the API manually to the phone.

First impressions are good, much more information and easy to read. Makes me wonder why the official Fox app can't be that good!

OK, what am I doing wrong here? I attach two screengrabs. The Energy Stats seems to show the battery with a very low SOC, but the Fox app says the battery is 63%.

I think you need to go to ‘settings’ and click on ‘Battery’ - about the 3rd line down is your battery capacity - enter your battery size there i.e. if you’ve got 10.4kWh of storage enter 10400 Wh

Aah....thank you, I didn't know I had to input that. That looks better now, the battery says 62 % in Fox, with the Energy Stats showing 8.67kWh left (the battery is 13,980 Wh).
