Is it possible for me, as an end user, to get firmware updates for the Foxess inverter and batteries, or does the installer need to do this?
My installer has done this for me, but I don't get to know what these updates give me.

Fox don't provide release notes (we've asked and they've said they will consider it) but for now it's not available.
If you have a particular problem it is advisable to upgrade to the latest versions, but this does sometimes come with problems of it's own - if everything is working as it should its best to stay on current versions until it's necessary to change (because of new features for example).
It's easy enough to remotely upgrade inverters, so you can either ask your installer or email Fox service with your inverter serial number and ask for the firmware to be updated - they usually manage this within a few days.
If you let me know what inverter, and batteries you have along with your current firmware versions I can look up the latest for you.

Hello Dave,
Thank you for the quick reply. I don't think I need an update at the moment, as my installer did that a few weeks ago.
I just wondered if I could do it in the future, but if you say it comes with risks, then "if it ain't broke, don't fix it". It would be good to have some heads up about any new features that could be available, but if Fox don't advertise the updates, then I will leave it to my installer.

Similar question to the OP:
As end user of an HV2600 v1 BMS and battery array, can I buy a v2 battery and BMS, and get the firmware updated on the BMS to work with the v1 and v2 batteries together?
As an electrician and electronics engineer, I begrudge paying an extra £300+ just to have someone do it for me!

Yes, before you start make sure your battery stack is at 50% change the BMS make sure the V2 batteries are first in the RS485 chain from the BMS set your dip switch on the BMS.Mutley wrote: Mon Feb 24, 2025 3:26 pm Similar question to the OP:

And then when all connected email Fox or raise a support ticket in the V2 app and ask them to upgrade the V1 batteries to the firmware needed to work on the V2 BMS - it won’t run properly until all the firmware has been updated but Fox are usually pretty good if you do it early/mid week they typically get it done within 24 hours.
Only thing I will say about mixing V2 and V1 batteries as a general observation is that the capacity is never quite as good as it was on a single V1 stack so make sure you add enough batteries - an alternative is to keep an eye on eBay and buy V1 batteries that are being replaced as there is quite an active market place for them.
