New WiFi provider

I have switched WiFi provider so I’ve lost connection to my solar panels. How can I delete my FoxCloud account and re set it up with new WiFi. It keeps reconnecting to my existing account with the old WiFi. I know I’ve got to scan the QR code on the WiFi stick in the solar batteries in the attic at some stage. How do I get to that stage?

There should be a wifi network showing with a name in the form `W-....` - for instance 'W-AAA1AAA'. Connect to that network (default password is 'mtmt2020'). You will get a warning saying the network has no internet - choose to connect anyway.
Once connect, go to 192.168.1.1 in your web browser. You can then change the WiFi details the datalogger will connect to on that page.

Do I just need to enter correct WiFi from drop down and password? The Mac details are different to the ones on the back of the router. It’s said it’s saved once but the app still says off line. Tried it again and now the blue circle is just going round and round in the screen......

I have just had the same situation—switched to fibre finally with new router. Searched for a solution to re-establish wifi connection and nearly gave up as nothing seemed to work. Searched this site ,saw this post and solution—job done. So many thanks rmhumphries. PeteNZ
Still having problems. I log into the datalogger but can only get to 192.168.1.1 by connecting to my Wifi instead.
Is the password asked for there the datalogger password mtmt2020 or the Wifi password ?
Doesn't seem to like either.
Update - had an IP engineer on the phone to set up phoneline. Apparently 192.168.1.1 needs the admin password not the WiFi one.

As long as the screen looks like the below guide (from step3), it’s the datalogger password - but you have to connect to the dataloggers ssid itself first not via your wifi.
Excellent help rmhumphries, thank you. I had the same issue which thanks to you I have now solved. Quite proud of myself.
The only issue I had was that my iPad kept reconnecting to my home WiFi router which slowed things up a bit. If the ‘connecting’ message in the stripey bar persists, check that your device is still connected to the W…………… one.

Hi I have recently got a new BT router. I have tried the above steps to reconnect my solar set however when I get to the box my new wifi isn't listed in the drop down. Lots of neighbours wifis are there and my new wifi appears on my phone and on my laptop. Any advice please of what I need to do?
I tried renaming back to old one however it didn't work and also when I tried connecting still didn't get the renamed old wifi ssid in the drop down.
Please help if you can

So a couple of things, firstly is the range of the new router as good as the old one - i've heard the BT routers range is lower than some, but I can't confirm that myself. If you stand next to the inverter with your phone is the signal strength still good ?.
Secondly most modern routers transmit on 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz - the datalogger on the inverter only works on 2.4Ghz, so you need to be sure that your router has the 2.5Ghz band enabled.
Just in way of an example for the way i've done this - I have a wifi extender (one of these https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B08V5KZCXV) - I have it plugged in approx half way between the main router and the inverters location and linked it to the main router. I've then given the extenders wifi name a unique name (like 'myinverter') and disabled the 5Ghz band. That means everything in the house will use the normal router, I then link the inverters datalogger to the 'myinverter' wifi name and as it is only 2.4Ghz there will never be a problem with it.

That suggests that the new router might not have the range the previous one did.
You can try a reset on the datalogger to see if that improves things, it's fiddly to do it as you have to unscrew the collar at the top of the datalogger and then pull downwards, leave it 30 seconds and then plug it in and tighten the collar up. If you can't get access to collar the other way to do it is a full shutdown, restart of the inverter - there's a video guide here that explains that viewtopic.php?t=5
If that doesn't resolve it, you'll need to get a wifi range extender to increase your range, I use this one https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B08V5KZCXV which is very reliable, I disabled the 5 Ghz band, named it uniquely for my inverter and it's never let me down.

I cannot change the wifi SSID, it shows nothing. I tried all above but the 192.168.1.1 page keep initializing data but with no success, no IP nor Mac shows up. How to reset the wifi dongle?

I’ve found with some phones you have to forget your local internet connection - because the dongle doesn’t provide an internet connection the phone disconnects part way through and re-connects to your normal wifi, try forgetting your normal wifi connection.rafal.baranowski5 wrote: ↑Thu Aug 29, 2024 3:54 pm I cannot change the wifi SSID, it shows nothing. You can totally reset the dongle by unscrewing the collar at the top, pulling down to remove it - wait 15 seconds, then re-connect and screw the collar back up.
I have been told by the commissioning engineer that the Foxcloud 2.4GHz dongle does not like some types of WiFi repeaters or Mesh type WiFi transponders. It simply does not see the SSID.
In my situation, my previous (Vodafone) router had to be set up with a dedicated 2.4GHz which then worked with Fox WiFi dongle. If left in default, the router provides one SSID with both 2.4 and 5GHz signals, which didn't work.
I also tried boosting the signal using the Tenda WiFi Mesh (2.4/5GHz signal set to Bridge mode) I have around the house. The Fox dongle couldn't see SSID - true to the commissioning engineer's comments.
Now I have another new router, I cannot get the dongle to pick up any signals that resembles my SSID - whether I dedicated a 2.4GHz Guest signal, use the Mesh, or default 2.4/5GHz SSID's from the router
I kept the SSID and PW the same from the 2.4GHz, hoping i didnt need to reconfigure the Fox dongle.
- Need to climb into the loft for one last ditch and yank the damn dongle for a power reset. Hopefully it will pick up new SSID's that I am broadcasting, rather than 17 other SSID's that are not mine.

I'm having similar problems - got new wifi 2 days ago and have followed all the instructions to connect to dongle and change the settings. It says it is successful but it is still offline, I've tried rebooting the inverter, taking out the dongle and re-seating. I even tried connecting back to the old router which was still live and that didn't work either!!! Why won't it connect?? Its very frustrating

It can be very frustrating when you are having problems with the datalogger - first thing to say is it will take at least 10 minutes after you have updated it for the website or apps to show it as on-line, secondly the Fox cloud has been quite unreliable this week and for many been showing their plant as off-line - also not helpful when you are trying to set it up. As far as I can tell the Fox cloud is currently working fine again.suerayfl wrote: ↑Sat Nov 30, 2024 2:25 pm I'm having similar problems - got new wifi 2 days ago and have followed all the instructions to connect to dongle and change the settings. When you say it is succesful what does the red light on the datalogger do ? - when disconnected it flashes red rapidly, when connected it settles down to a slow and steady red flash (once a second) with the occasional green pulse every 30 seconds - if it does that it thinks you are connected.
Will has posted a video above which guides you through the steps, but I have found that on some devices you have to forget their normal connection to the wifi as they will often abandon the connection to the dongle part way through and switch back to a connection that offers wifi.
