FoxEss H1 G2 6kW inviter with 3x EP4800 batteries, only at 3.6kW peak discharge
Hi,

I have a FoxEss H1 G2 6kW inviter with 3x EP4800 batteries for just under 15kWh capacity. It only seems to discharge at a maximum of 3.6kW, even if none of it goes to the grid (e.g. I'm using around 4kW in the house at night for a brief period and I require grid import to top up around 400W. Why is this and how can the battery discharge increase close to the 6kW inverter limit?

I can pull the peak values as I have a Modbus device connected to the home assistant FoxEss integration.

Max battery discharge: 3.6kW
Max battery charge: 3.6kW
Max Feed in: 5.6kw

Thanks

Liam

Can you look at your modbus information and see what Modbus Max Charge & Discharge rates are set to ?

3 * EQ4800's only have a nominal voltage of 134V, from memory the G2 has a 40A charge/discharge limit - so max power should be 5.3kW (at 25C) but that will reduce at lower SoC's and temperatures.

Hi, I've posted a screenshot of the rates which are set. Should the discharge current be higher?

Yes, the recommended (continuous) charge/discharge current is 30A, but they have a maximum of 50A.

The H1 G2 has a maximum (default) of 40A.

If you are not looking to have long sustained high discharge periods (as some users do that dump their batteries to the grid), I would suggest going with the default setting of 40A for both charge and discharge.

Are you on a G99 fast track DNO? With that one can only export 3.68 kwh. There is a G100 restriction in place. Maybe not that but this is happening to me.

If it was G98/G100 restriction you wouldn't set that using the battery charge/discharge current controls, it would have to be the Export Power limit instead (Settings, on-grid) to be G100 compliant.

Yes I do that the G99 fast track DNO. I didn't realise this was a limit of 3.68kW... I thought G98 was a 3.68kW limit? Is this impacting your grid export as I'm exporting over 4.5kW on most days in full sun. Also I didn't think the DNO limit would apply to battery discharge within the home... This would be the export power limit which is a different setting?

Sorry I didn't read your post before sending mine! Pretty much in line with what you said
