Battery Reserve Capacity setting changing by itself?
Hi.

First post :-)

We have the following system:
  • Inverter 1: H1-E3.7-G2 with the latest firmware (main roof)
  • Inverter 2: S2000-G2 (garage roof)
  • Batteries: 4 x ECS2900
  • PV: 14 x 440 panels
I'm running the FoxCloud 2.0 app to monitor everything.

When I go into the 'Quick Settings' for the main inverter, every now and then, the Battery Reserve Capacity is different from the last setting I made...
I keep changing it back to my chosen figure - 15% - but the other day I observed that it was 20%. Changed it back to 15%. Today it's set to 10%!

Is there some other factor that can dynamically change the battery reserve capacity that I'm unaware of?

Cheers
Colin
Re: Battery Reserve Capacity setting changing by itself?
Hi, if you are using schedules that can dynamically change the minsoc setting - i.e. if you set a schedule with minsoc set to 15% it will remember that setting even after the schedule has run or been deleted. With schedules the best advice is to always set the minsoc exactly as you want it to be left i.e. 10%
Re: Battery Reserve Capacity setting changing by itself?
Find this very concerning that we have min soc and battery reserve.

I can control min soc by programming it in the mode scheduler.

But can’t change the battery reserve.yet the min soc is supposed to be lower than the reserve????

Currently reserve set at 10% and min to 15%

So how do we set both and what should they be in an ideal world.

HV2600 v2 bateries

I am losing currently 10W periodically in capacity approx 12/14 days. Been told t hi s is normal but when things were running at 15/20% min six didn’t have this happening other than winter. System is now a few years old.
Re: Battery Reserve Capacity setting changing by itself?
We’ve always had the 2, if you don’t have EPS you set them the same.

In scheduler you are setting ‘minsoc on grid’ (in the V2 app its called battery reserve) not ‘minsoc’.

You can’t run schedules and make changes yourself (or via modbus) as scheduler will set them right back to what they were before.

If you want to set minsoc you need to disable scheduler, set them to whatever you want (10% if you don’t have minsoc) then re-enable the scheduler and your schedules will control ‘minsoc on grid’ when you set the minimum soc level there.
Re: Battery Reserve Capacity setting changing by itself?
Thanks think I follow had a tough day and head is cabbaged. (Still got to sort something else out but having a few moments of relaxation first).

Don’t have EPS and that makes sense as you need battery in reserve in case of power out.
Re: Battery Reserve Capacity setting changing by itself?
Hi Have a KH7 (Master v1.007) inverter and am using Home Assistant to automate changing the min SoC to 100% when we get a cheap charging slot using IOG. When the cheap slot finishes the automation changes the min SoC back to 10% but the Battery Reserve Capacity seems to go up to 100% in line with min SoC but does not drop down at the same time. I don't have a Battery Reserve Capacity entity in Home Assistant via Modbus to change, only Min SoC. Any ideas?

You have 2 entities in home assistant, one is Min SoC [number.min_soc] and the other is Min SoC (On Grid) [number.min_soc_on_grid]

Min SoC (on Grid) is the same as ‘Battery Reserve’ in the Fox app and when you set Min SoC in a schedule it is this that is being changed.

If you set Min SoC then Min SoC (On Grid) will change to be the same level as it cannot be set below the Min SoC value it must always be the same or higher.

When it’s a cheap slot you should leave Min SoC at your default level (say 10%) and instead change Min SoC (On Grid) to 100% - that way when you set it back to 10% both will still be at 10%.

Thanks for that, I’ll give it a try.
