Firmware Update on KH7, Yes or no?
Hi community,

I'm new to Solar, and have just had my system installed (15 panels, EP11 10kW batter and KH7 inverter).

My Inverter is running;

KH7
Version Master:1.41
Version Slave:1.01
Version ARM:1.37

I notice there are newer updates available.

Version Master:1.47
Version Slave:1.02
Version ARM:1.45

As someone who works in IT, updating is something I'm familiar with and keen to do. But I just want to check if there's an order to the process, or even, if there's any pro's or con's for updating/not updating?

I'm sure as I get more involved in my system, I'll be back asking silly questions - so stay tuned :)
Re: Firmware Update on KH7, Yes or no?
I’m a great believer in the ‘if it isn’t broke, don’t fix it’ adage, but in this case as the versions are so much newer in the cloud and as there have been a number of bug fixes for the KH, it’s probably sensible to update it.

The slave version is not so relevant, but you should update your master / manager (aka ARM) - I always update the Master first (set the timeout to 45 seconds) after which the inverter will restart, then update the manager - when complete I always do a full shutdown / restart ( not essential but that’s just me ).

Don’t forget that you will also have battery firmware which depending on your batteries may have a master/slave (HV/Mira) or a BMU/BCU (ECS/EQ) or a combined version (EP5/11) depending on the type update master (or BMU) first followed by slave (BCU) - obvs in a combined unit all the functions are in the one firmware.

Thanks for this Dave.

With it being a new commission, I figure its best to be running the latest & greatest in terms of software. I won't be aware of any quirks before now, and will only know "the new problems" (IF there are any :D)

I have an EP11 battery, there only seems to be a BCU update for mine, from 1.006 to 1.007. I haven't done this yet, on the back of there being no other module updates (apparently) - but I have updated the Inverter. If I'm good to just update the BCU on the battery, I'll also do that.

The "Time Out" appears to be in minutes also, with the minimum being 30. So just left that as is.
Re: Firmware Update on KH7, Yes or no?
If your EP11 is the ‘WARM’ version you will want to upgrade to the 1.007 version but if it’s the non heated version it’s not essential.

Sorry my bad, I meant ‘minutes’ not seconds ;) - it just allows a bit more time during the upgrade if the network connection isn’t the best.

It is the warm version I have, though I don't have the warming function configured. That I know of. Should I?
