EPS Mode after PV circuit Tripp.
Hello,

For the last few days my system has been going into an EPS mode twice a day and normally in the morning after the batteries has charged for some reason..
The PV circuit tripped.

Any ideas why this may be happening?
Re: EPS Mode after PV circuit Tripp.
Is it the main AC breaker that is tripping?, can you post a picture of the breaker that is tripping and confirm which inverter model and which batteries you have please.

here it is...

Re: EPS Mode after PV circuit Tripp.
In theory that is sized correctly for a 5kW inverter and it isn't a RCD so it must be tripping on over current.

It is possible that the breaker has gone 'soft' and is tripping early, it's clearly doing it whilst the batteries are charging but the maximum they will be charging at is 5kW (max 23A) which is well within the breakers limits.

I would recommend getting that breaker replaced and monitor the system once it is.

In the interim you could reduce the battery charge current in the inverter settings (Settings, Battery, Max Chg Cur) - this is the DC amp charge current so to get to the charge power you need to multiply it by your battery DC voltage.
i.e. if your battery was 300V DC and you wanted to charge at 2400 watts you would set the Max Chg Cur to 8A (Amps = Power/Volts i.e. 8 = 2400/300)

Setting it lower will slow your battery charge but might stop the breaker tripping short term (I would still get it replaced asap)

thank you for your reply.

weir is happening now.. is been ok since the installation in 2023.
i have a 20kw battery storage and electric car.

should i go back to the installer to change this or a sparky can do this for me.

thanks for your help on this.
Re: EPS Mode after PV circuit Tripp.
Yes a bit strange but it's often the way when breakers start to go 'soft' and it will likely start to fail more often in future.

If possible i'd get your installer back, simply because they will be familiar with the system and if there is anything that is a potential warranty issue they would be best to deal with it - but any competent electrician would be able to replace the breaker for you.
Re: EPS Mode after PV circuit Tripp.
update,

so, i bought a replacement circuit, open the front plate and it look like this!

I decided that is no the circuit breaker the issue. this is beyond my skills, bring in the professionals (the original installers)

explains why it kept tripping all the time to a point that it will stay off.

Ouch, looks like possibly a loose connection that has been over-heating and gradually taken to arcing which explains your tripping circuit.

Yes you definitely hand over to the professionals, the wiring needs checking to make sure it is the correct rating and if it is rated ok and passes earth leakage tests it will need to be stripped back so far to make it safe it may need alternative connectors.

Yep,

Very impress with the Installers, came out within 24hours and replace box, connectors, circuits all new.

Back online..👍🏽

Thank you for your input/help on this.
