KH10 Technical compatability with Australia VPP
Hi everyone,

I'm currently contemplating the use of the Foxess KH10 inverters paired with the Eq4800 batteries for some installs here in Australia under the new federal cheaper home battery rebate scheme. The outline if the scheme is extremely vague at the moment only calling for the system to meet the following criteria.
On-grid battery systems (including the inverter) need to have the technical capability to participate in a VPP to be eligible.

A battery is VPP capable if the inverter:

can connect to the electricity grid and external entities (directly or indirectly), and
can communicate and respond through remote signals, and
has the communications protocol to allow the battery to receive and respond to signals by external entities.
Can anyone shed some light on this?
Thanks,
Paul
Re: KH10 Technical compatability with Australia VPP
I think it may be referring to AS4777.2:2015, in Australia solar systems must be able to receive signals remotely so that they can be controlled by the network i.e. do not generate power, do not consume at more than 50% of power etc...

This requirement will be met on the KH inverters as they support DRM (demand response mode)

The inverter as a whole can be controlled by you via the Fox cloud, and it has the ability to be connected locally over modbus so that you can control it directly - but the main thing is that the grid can override the behaviour when it needs to.

Thanks Dave,
I'm familiar with 4777.2 but this early on in the rebate program it's hard to tell what they expect exactly. The fact as you say the support DRM and can be controlled via modbus or cloud sounds like it meets the technical requirements, at least as they currently stand. I'm thinking of installing two of these in parallel at my house with a combined usable storage of around 50KWhr to see how it works before I start putting them in customers premises. Price wise they are pretty much unmatched here.
