This seems an odd limitation when all our systems can feed in to the grid in the event of excess solar generation? I'm curious how battery sourced feed in would be any different, technically speaking? Will wrote: Tue Nov 29, 2022 8:54 pm FoxESS and just about all G99/G98 systems for UK use won't be able to discharge to grid sadly.
I was looking at this issue as I am considering ditching my FIT Export payment and going on the Octopus 15p per kw instead. I have added a new solar array recently which I get nothing for exports. I came across a very good article at
Blog.jonsdocs.org.uk then search for Solis Hybrid Inverter
Towards the end of the article the method used to force discharge the batteries is given. I haven’t yet tried it, but am fortunate enough to have the Solis Hybrid Inverter fitted in my system.
Fox AIO Hybrid system
4x Fox HV2600 v2 batteries - to be increased to 7 or 8, undecided
Solis 3kw Hybrid Inverter
4.6 kw Solar in 2 arrays - to be increased to 8kw subject to planning consent for solar carport
Hyundai Kona 64Kw
Ohme ev charger
Daikin monobloc 7Kw ASHP being fitted January ’24.

I just joined the forum, and am also interested in forced discharge. Will, your post was 12 months back, have things changed. Will wrote: Tue Nov 29, 2022 8:54 pm FoxESS and just about all G99/G98 systems for UK use won't be able to discharge to grid sadly.
Is there any documentation for the force charge/discharge features. I would think the grid would want you to discharge slowly over the 4-7pm time window, rather than have everyone dump maximum amount at 4pm. I have a 6Kw grid limit, 12Kw battery, so could dump 1/2 my battery in the first hour.
Also, I assume you set the upper and lower limits on the inverter for how much charge you want to force discharge.

KH10, 24x435w panels, 20kWh of ECM/C4300 battery’s.
Presumably the main concern over force discharge is not exceeding the total output power approved by your DNO under your G98/99, but since the H1 inverters can control total export anyway when solar producing, they presumably can enforce this cap even when battery force discharging. Otherwise the risk of exceeding the cap would come from when you are force discharging as well as solar producing.
What are these firmware versions for the H1?reef wrote: Tue Feb 13, 2024 10:50 pm Things have changed yes. Since around October time the newest firmware on the H1 inverters has allowed force discharge to the grid and last month the KH inverters also gained the ability I believe.
My systems was installed on earlier October and uses
Master: 1.63
Slave: 1.02
Manager: 1.68
Kind regards,

Master and Slave versions are correct, but you need Manager 1.70 on the H1 for force charge/discharge.lessa wrote: Wed Feb 21, 2024 2:44 pmWhat are these firmware versions for the H1?reef wrote: Tue Feb 13, 2024 10:50 pm Things have changed yes. Just to update this thread.
Force discharge is now supported for H, K series when using the latest firmware.

Hi, newbie here, oldbie to forums in general. Keen to get a lot more from my tech.mbu10 wrote: Wed Jul 03, 2024 12:01 pm Yes i can see that in the menu

I just wrote a post explaining my successes and failures with forced discharge on Octopus Flux and the forum logged me out, and threw it all away.
The headline is that due to the new Octopus Flux tariff rates from this month, it pays you more to export to the grid until 7pm than it charges you to import anything you need from the grid between 7pm and 2am. Thus I don't see a benefit to force discharging to a particular level, though my base S0C for forced discharge was 30% to avoid excessively deep battery cycles and to leave me with enough power to get to 2am. I haven't changed it yet as I'm still figuring out the nuances of the new tariff and how it would work with my next goal which is to use automation to participate in the coming Winter Saving Sessions by exporting as much as allowed during them!

Hi Sandvika,
I’ve just had panels and batteries installed and am also with Octopus Flux. Agree with you about using the tariff to import and export at advantageous times.
I’ve managed to set the FoxCloud app to import between 2 & 5am but want to export, if possible, between 4 & 7pm.
I can’t work out how to do it in the app; would you mind throwing me a quick explanation how to do it?
Thanks!
