I’m trying to understand whether I can connect the 2 modbus wires directly to an Rj45 plug for my PC - is this possible?
Help please connecting H1 3.7 TO PC

No it’s possible to wire them directly, you will need a modbus to TCP converter which converts the RS485 to ethernet.
