Hello everyone!
I recently bought a singlephase FOX-ESS inverter model S1500-G2. It comes with a usb wifi datalogger.

I did not have any luck initializing the product as i thought that simply connecting the AC side would allow me to edit and explore the inverter settings and set up the Wifi connection with the datalogger. No status led or display. No status led on the datalogger. Everything is off, although i am feeding it 230V on AC.

This weird behaviour got me intriged, and i contacted the support asking if this behaviour was normal. Got into an e-mail exchange for troubleshooting being asked to measure voltages at the AC and DC inputs etc.
After all that, the support assured me that the inverter needs at least 60V on DC to start up refering to the model's datasheet to the "Start-up input voltage".

This would mean the the inverter and the datalogger are completely off most of the time and are only active, even if in stand-by, during the day and only when the PV voltage is above 60V.

I find it odd for it to be a design choice... None of the inverters i saw before work this way. Can anyone confirm if this behaviour is normal? Do your Inverters and dataloggers turn completely off during the night or when there are not enough sun to produce energy?

Thank you!!

They do indeed go to sleep, and 'wait' for enough solar generation - it's fairly typical of solar only inverters so that they don't waste grid power when there is no solar generation. (hybrids are different as they have batteries to fall back on). Some inverters have a night mode (sorry not sure if the S series does but check your settings in the manual), when enabled this will keep it in a standby state with the datalogger running.
