I've read that the most recent firmware updates for the H1 and AC1 inverters enable a force discharge mode, but this is only available via "strategy periods".

Is it possible to control force discharge directly from HA (I'm currently using https://github.com/nathanmarlor/foxess_modbus), either directly or by configuring strategy periods via automations?

I have various existing automations for controlling the work mode, and I'd much rather extend those to make use of force discharge.

No it isn’t available via modbus (yet), actually it isn’t available through the inverter panel settings either - the only current route is via the Foxess cloud app or website.

Foxess confirmed they do intend to make it available eventually over the modbus but haven't said when that will be - it’s unlikely to be imminent as the next big release will be the new app, which should happen in the next few weeks.

Yes this is now working over modbus, it uses the remote control registers to provide the Force Discharge/Charge functions - in effect it looks at the various power sensors, load, feedin, solar power and modulates the registers to balance the output.

Please see the notes on the integration page as there are differences between inverter types H/H3/KH/AIO https://github.com/nathanmarlor/foxess_ ... d-Features
