I have watched the videos on Youtube kindly uploaded by Will.
Now maybe it should already be clear to me, but just want to clarify the following;
1) How does the device with Home Assistant loaded on it get the data from your inverter?
A) Via WIFI
B) Via network cable (Network cable to LAN or directly to device with HA installed on?)
C) If it's via either, is there one method that is better than the other?
Sorry if it is a dumb question, but just starting out on this journey.
Thanks,
Darren

Hi Will
Thank you for everything you’re doing on here it’s really great.
I’ve had my solar working about 3 weeks and just got my batteries installed.
After using the cloud app for a few weeks I’m definitely going to go down the HA route.
I work in the security installation industry so I’m used to a certain level of “programming” so I’m going to try and give it a go I’m just not sure where to start.
The video is a great start for me, thanks.
What would you recommend as a platform to install HA on for a beginner.
I’ve read a lot about Raspberry Pi’s but I’ve not had any experience with them and it seems a bit daunting.
Any feed back would be really helpful.
Thank you

I'd grab a cheap mico pc off ebay over a Pi. The chip shortage has made Pi's expensive but a micro PC can you had for less than a pi now.

I would just like to thank Will for sharing his knowledge. I now have Home Assistant running on an old Chromebox 2.
It took a while to understand what I was doing (wrongly, in some places), but it now works as described.
I set the system up to monitor actual solar generation, but it might be that not too long in the future, Fox ESS will have this cumulative parameter active in the app.
