In the interests of trying to help, I thought someone may find the attached helpful with their thinking for where CTs/Energy-Meters might be placed in the chain.
I'm not an expert! Always seek advice from a competent person.
My setup includes:
- FoxESS H1 (6kW)
- 12kWh (ECS4100)
- AC Connection supplying main house loads
- Backup connection supplying "critical" loads (Lights and LOW POWER devices including IT equipment)
- Myenergi (Eddi & Harvi): Using CT clamps
- Eastron SDM 120/230 Energy Meters (in-line DIN)
- Waveshare 485 devices
- Home Assistant
Notes:
- I have a local earth rod working with grid earth
- All the above is in a duplex metal enclosure but segregated for AC/Backup isolation (keeps it all in one tidy space)
- EPS on the H1 is set for UPS, with internal switching (no external load switching as I'm only doing discrete circuits - not whole house backup)
- The "Main EM" is dedicated for the H1, and is connected to the "Meter" inputs on the H1. It replaces the need for a CT clamp and is "instant" readings for the H1.
- I use the other Eastrons just because I'm curious and the readings are sent to Home Assistant.
Hope this proves helpful to others.
If there are any glaring faults, I'd also welcome any constructive feedback .
Thanks.
