Forced charge during high home load
Currently on an Octopus free session and have set my battery to do a forced charge. At the same time I have several heavy load items running. What I don't understand is why during this load, the battery discharges to support the grid.
If I go into my forced charge schedule and drop the "stop at" to below my current charge and then to go to "standby" all the power comes from the grid and nothing from the battery so why when it is trying to charge, will it also discharge which seems counter intuitive?

Re: Forced charge during high home load
Best post your work schedule program that you used, or when you do charge, how you program it in.
Re: Forced charge during high home load
To give some details to the above. From memory what I saw the house load was ~10KW, 7KW was coming from the grid but 3KW was coming from the battery.
When switched to standby, the whole 10KW was coming from the grid.
Why therefore does the house load of 10KW not all come from the grid plus extra import to charge the battery when on forced charge?
I'll also add that I can't understand how the screenshot shows after charging cut off to be self use because it was definitely standby when I force tweaked the charging cut off soc to 10% to see how it behaved at 10% in order to get the info for this post. I couldn't have seen this difference otherwise.

Re: Forced charge during high home load
The behavior you are describing sounds like the inverter is limiting total import at the meter, so during forced charge the battery offsets part of the house load while the grid supplies the rest. In standby the inverter stops discharging and the whole 10kW comes from the grid. The screenshot showing self-use after you dropped the cutoff to 10% likely reflects the work mode resetting once the charge target is reached rather than the mode you intended. Checking the inverter's grid import limit and the charge current setting would explain the 7kW/3kW split.
Re: Forced charge during high home load
Thanks for the clarification. As I said above, the operation is counter intuitive then. If this behaviour is caused by inverter limitations the system should switch to standby at the point it wishes to take load from the battery (under a forced charge directive) in order to prevent the battery discharging.
I know the scenario I mentioned above is a little bit niche caused by the "free electricity" but if you are trying to force charge the battery, I cannot think of a scenario whereby you'd wish it to discharge instead. The minimum that should occur is no charging but certainly not discharging.
