Automating Octopus Power-ups

Octopus have recently launched Power-ups in East and South East England to try to shift some more demand to periods of excess renewables generation.

Customers are invited to opt-in to a two-hour slot for the following day - electricity is free and you’re encouraged to use as much as you can.

Balancing battery and car charging to make the most of this is fiddly, so building on the fantastic Home Assistant integrations developed by members of this group, I’ve written up my approach to automating. Hope this is useful to some of you, and suggestions for enhancements also welcome.

I am hopeful that the Power-Ups will eventually make it up to the North West
