FOX KH10.5 Connect to HA via Waveshare RS485 - A very novice user needs detailed help please!!!
Hi

My goal is to be able to change the mode scheduler in line with the charge slots allocated by the energy supplier so as not to drain the house batteries into the car.

The installer tells me that to retrofit CT blinding will require a lot of slabs up etc. and this has been confirmed by an independent electrician. That is too much work/expense/hassle.

So that leads me to the HA route with modbus.

My equipment and set up:

FOX KH 10.5 inverter running master 1.6, slave 1.02 and manager 1.58
HA Green running 2026.4.2. Plugged into the back of the broadband router in the home study.
Waveshare RS485 to ETH(B) running 1.49
The inverter is in a garage and so the waveshare is connected to a TP Deco Mesh in AP mode via and ethernet cable.

I have tried to follow the github for this integration but I am a novice user and fear I may have messed something up.

My Waveshare set up looks like this:
Modbus Setup.jpg
When I try to install the integration I get this error.
Modbus Error.jpg
It looks to me that HA is running on 192.168.1.80/24
HA IP.jpg
And if I ping 80 I get a response:
HA Ping.jpg
So I look at the IP address for the Modbus: 192.168.1.254 (because I had to reset it earlier in this mess.
Modbus Ping.jpg
So I went to the web addressinterface to see if I could change settings there and that page now shows:

This is where I have ended up after a week or so of messing around with it. I think the emphasis should be on messing. I have reached out the equipment retailer who have said speak to the manufacturer.

I have reached out to waveshare and they have suggested a couple of things (via 24 hour email responses) but, now, I am locked out of the webpage I can't make some of the changes they suggested and they have gone silent.

I am desperate for any help at all with this to get the two bits of kit talking to each other and seeing the inverter. Would anyone be willing to help me? I would be happy to screen share if that made it easier?

Thanks

Andy

At the very bottom, it does say you may have to factory reset it, if you have updated the firmware.
There is also the VirCOM tool that can find the Waveshare device.

Not sure if you have seen the wiki on the integration page for the waveshare here https://github.com/nathanmarlor/foxess ... TH-%28B%29

The waveshare often needs to be found and configured using the Vircom application which broadcasts on your network to find it, and that should then allow you to configure it, but i’ve seen a few waveshares lock up during config and they needed to be factory reset (described at the bottom of that page).

Also worth adding the RS485 cabling must be correctly wired to the inverter for the home assistant integration to get a response, so double check you have the RS485A/B from the waveshare connected to the 485A/B (I think pins 4 & 3 on the KH meter connector)
