Hi all,

Looking at ways of preventing discharge (or forcing charge) during Intelligent Octopus periods. Previously timed windows on the inverter has met the need, but with intelligent octopus these time periods move around.

Reviewing the manual, I'm wondering if anybody has used DRM trigger (DRM5 or perhaps DRM4) to force the grid use without changing the work mode or setting timed windows via cloud api or mobile app?

This could then be driven by Home Assistant based on either the car charger use or from octopus api.

Before I start from scratch -anybody got anything to share?

You can control charge periods on the inverter via Modbus if you have the right connection to the RS485 port and the right software.

This HA integration is undergoing a lot of development effort but it's already very usable and allows you to change charge periods via HA Automations. So if you have an integration that talks to Octopus and can pull the relevant time periods, in theory you can stitch the two halves together (maybe with Node Red to help?)

It's not trivial, certainly, but you're definitely not starting from scratch.
