Video or picture guides to connecting to Modbus
Hi all apologies if this has been well covered but I couldn't find many resources

I'm about to jump into the world if Fox Inverter and Battery and I want to connect it via Modbus to get more real-time data as I understand it, if I go through ocpp it's going through the Fox cloud and the data is 5 minutes old?

I'm just cautious about the Modbus connection I've seen posts where some people say there is a sticker covering where the Modbus port is saying warranty void if removed?

But I think that's not always true but in any case I can't seem to find videos or pictures that show where the Modbus port is or how to connect to it? Ive read I can just use a twisted pair from an ethernet cable to connect it?

But also I've seen potentially where you have to pull the whole module out of the inverter to connect the Modbus?

Sorry about the newbie questions I'm always cautious when dealing with anything electrical

I'm getting a DH 9.9 inverter

I'm going to get a wave share one like this? https://amzn.asia/d/04e2R21T

If anyone knows video or picture guides to show where the Modbus port and how to connect to it would be greatly appreciated

If you have not got this yet, are you self-installing this Inverter or having it installed by a professional?
If a professional is installing the Inverter, ask them to wire you up the ModBus connection wires.
Re: Video or picture guides to connecting to Modbus
Yeah not installed yet yeah I wondered if I could do that hopefully the installer agrees!

Thanks a lot

Is that modbus USB adaptor the right one?
Re: Video or picture guides to connecting to Modbus
Given you are paying $$$$ to have this all fitted, and that they need to add usually wiring for the CT Clamp into the same connection, it's a small job of mere moments to insert wires.

Ethernet cable is thin, but can be uses if the distance is not too great. Maybe you need something a little thicker purchased.

That is the same device I have here on mine.
Re: Video or picture guides to connecting to Modbus
Thanks a lot! Cable run will only be about 4 metres to the USB and was going to use a cat 6 twisted pair

Yeah the installers should do it but sometimes you get some that don't want to do anything extra or they might refuse if they don't understand what I'm trying to do and might say it's not safe etc etc hopefully will be lucky!
Re: Video or picture guides to connecting to Modbus
I used CAT6 also for the short run, about same length too.
Maybe snacks will help them wire this up for you :D

Is there a charge if I hire a professional to install it?

I suspect they would want paying!

You can DIY the job yourself if you are relatively confident and methodical (read that as slow)
