FoxEss A Series 22kW 3-Phase EV Charger - Where to buy?
Hi,

I'm getting a new EV company car and looking to get a charger for the home setup. I've spoken to my supplier who put the system in but they can't seem to find anyone selling the A Series 22kW 3-phase chargers in Essex or South of England.

I'm wanting the 22kW system to allow for the larger cars to faster charge and will be able to charge my car at 22kW also so would like this wall tethered unit as its in the range of hardware Fox sells.

Can anyone help with a supplier for this unit as I get the car in 2 weeks and keen to get the charger sources and installed but finding it is proving a little difficult.

Any and all help would be very welcome.

Zappi Glo,

I have this, and it can do 1-Phase or 3-Phase in the same SKU (unit)
Compatible with Intelligent Octopus Go, which was why I went with it, does not need to worry about car integration (for me at least)

ETA: No the Zappi Glo cannot do 3-Phase

Hi, thanks for the reply. I've had the Zappi brand suggested by a few friends recently so might consider that for sure. Wanted to keep it all FoxEss if possible but that's more aesthetics I guess :-)

Will take a look unless anyone can suggest a Fox supplier that stocks the one I want.

Thanks again.

I was thinking about the aesthetics angle, wondering if you wanted a nice match :D
Hopefully that CEF link will sort you out.

Thanks again, will pass onto the installer and see what they say. :-)

If this is the charger you are looking at, not sure it will do 22kW on your domestic 3-Phase.
Needs 400V of AC I think to run at 22kW, so odds are you will be wasting money.

I got my information wrong about the Zappi Glo, it's 7kW
The ugly Zappi can be 3-Phase, but I think it also needs 400V AC for 22kW output.
Re: FoxEss A Series 22kW 3-Phase EV Charger - Where to buy?
I would check with your installers, in case that 400V AC is a red herring.

32Amp x 230V = 7,360W per phase on a typical charger.
7,360W = 22,080W if 3-Phases are wired up

It is late, my maths/head could be getting this wrong.

Given the power needs, wouldn't it be cheaper to charge from the grid when the price is low instead?

He does not mention using PV for car charging, it's an asumption you have made.
And they have only 15kWp of PV, less than the 22kW needed.

There is always a chance they wish to use PV to charge the car, but this loses out on the higher Export rates.
We typically have cheap overnight rates, and he wants 22kW as EV batteries are getting bigger, so with the limited overnight period, 22kW can charge the car quicker and put more kWh into the battery.

That was my point, 15kW inverters cost less than bigger ones and grid charging doesn't wear batteries.

Although you'd have to sit down with a spreadsheet to run the numbers before knowing for sure either way.
Re: FoxEss A Series 22kW 3-Phase EV Charger - Where to buy?
The 400v referred to in 3-phase electrics is actually the phase-phase voltage, on the individual phases it is still 230v phase-neutral.
The Zappi 2.1 multiphase charger is one that can be used on either single or 3-phase systems.
H1-3.7-E-G2, 2xEP11-H and 6Kw solar

Thanks, I never really looked into the details, glad it was sort of a red herring.
It did make sense when the maths was done, adding up to 22kW.
