I got Fox ESS EQ4800 48kWh recently installed two days ago on an external brick wall on a property in South Australia. See the photos
The top 120mm of the battery has only 140mm of horizontal clearance on the left due to the toilet window sill. Rest of the battery has ample clearance on all sides.
Fox ESS manual specifies the battery to have min 300mm clearance on all sides to provide reasonable airflow for heat dissipation.
The installers have verbally told that it is not an issue in their assessment because it is outdoor ventilated area, the sill does not box the battery and there is clearance between the battery and brick wall for the required airflow.
Would this install lead to battery overheat issues and void Fox ESS warranty in future.
Thanks
The battery clearance will be fine, not least your batteries are installed outside which will provide them ample air-flow.
Fox specify 500mm around each ‘side’ of the inverter and the batteries are close on the left hand edge, however the cooling fins run vertically at the back of the inverter and you have good clearance to allow air-flow.
