Which energy supplier do I choose?
I'm in UK my setup is
Inverter fox KH10.5
Battery fox EP12
21 x Aiko 460W panels
EV charger Indra pro gen 2

This was installed in November 2025 by greenscape energy on behalf of my supplier OVO.
I had charge anytime on my account (allows EV charging 24/7) which on installation cost 7p/kWh on December the 1st they doubled the charging cost to 14p.
After solar installation I applied to join battery boost so I can use discounted energy to charge solar battery which on application was told you can't have charge anytime and battery boost.
Email last week thanks for applying but the battery boost is not being continued after 1st Feb 2026.
No cheap solar tariffs are available via OVO,standard unit cost applies to charging solar battery.
All OVO are offering is 14p EV charging albeit 24/7
Is Octopus energy the best bet to switch to?
I'm based in Chelmsford Essex

Re: Which energy supplier do I choose?
Morning,

I'm a big fan of Octopus Go, which is a dumb (not smart requires you to set a force charge schedule) 5 hrs of 8.5p per night for the ev and whole house or the intelligent go, which is 6 hours at 7p for house and ev plus random additional cheap slots when the grid is green and cheap but needs to be linked to your charger or car so it can control the car for the extra slots.

If you'd like £50 for switching you can use my code https://share.octopus.energy/ruby-calf-221

Re: Which energy supplier do I choose?
What are Octopus SEG payments for octopus GO and intelligent GO?
Would the solar transfer to octopus be seamless all certification etc from OVO be transferred to octopus?
What are the differences between 'flux' accounts and the go account.?
Sorry for all the questions their website has generic answers not specifics.
Re: Which energy supplier do I choose?
1. Here is a matrix of which of the 5 export choices along the top combine together with the import choices on the left side.
As you can see the export payments depend on what you wish to combine.
https://octopus.energy/help-and-faqs/ar ... rt-tariff/

I am using the Outgoing Octopus Export that gives you currently a flat 15p per kWh any hour of the day.
Import is Intelligent Octopus Go, and you can see that it has a green tick, so fully compatible.

2. I was given an MCS Certificate and I have a DNO Acceptance letter that I had to upload to Octopus, have to check what you have been emailed. I did not change provider, but you may have these documents already.

3. Go gives you as already mention 5hrs of cheap import, flux has a higher import price and I think is shorter from memory, and if you look at the above matrix, it can only combine with itself.

For some specific values, you may have to import your post code into sections of their site to get location specific pricing.
Re: Which energy supplier do I choose?
I bit the bullet yesterday and signed up with Octopus.
£50 making it's way to you Will (thank you)
Currently sending required documents for outgoing Octopus to set that up when I'm connected.
So helpful so far, OVO could learn a lesson or two from Octopus.
