Octopus Energy are now installing Fox ESS and offering Intelligent Flux!
#octopusenergy, a UK energy provider, are now offering #foxess as an option for their solar and battery installation service and this includes a fast pass to beta testing the new Intelligent Flux tariff with your foxess system if installed by Octpus! We assume this is a strong sign that this tariff support will come to all fox ess customers in the near future.

Great news, we've watched and waited.
Re: Octopus Energy are now installing Fox ESS and offering Intelligent Flux!
Hi I am pretty new to this. I am getting a quote from Octopus for a battery to add to my solar panels. Looking and learning as fast as I can! I presume Octopus is a good place to get these supplied and fitted as they have access to all my current electricity data?
Thanks

Personally I think Octopus tend to be quite expensive since they are a national organisation. I'd suggest trying to find some local installers who already install fox kit (there's a directory of installers on the Fox website), and get at least 3 quotes.

Thank you that’s a good idea 😊

Personally I feel they are way too expensive.
Having had 16 panels JA Solar at 450w, 6k H1G2 inverter and 10k EP11 battery fitted in September on a Solar Together council aligned scheme at 8K and that was extra scaffolding of £500 as it was East/West install, Octopus’s estimator is 12K with one set of scaffolding.

Thank you. I looked at solar together a few years ago, I don’t think they have any schemes running at the moment.

Re: Octopus Energy are now installing Fox ESS and offering Intelligent Flux!
Hi, I have this set, that was installed last September and I’m in the process of setting up this tariff, but it isn’t allowing me to connect octopus to my system as part of the final stage for their control of system. I have contacted Fox support and they are saying they have no idea what this tariff is!!

Honestly, I’ve had such problems setting up my export tariff, right from after the initial installation, I really wish I hadn’t bothered trying to been ‘green’. The process is soooooo overly complicated and too many organisations involved.

I’m currently now stuck between octopus and Fox. It shows I’m on the tariff in my app, but also said there was an issue when completing final step, so I have no idea where I am now. I assume my basic export tariff is still functioning until it’s sorted out! Thanks James

Make sure you are on recent firmware, my understanding is that it won't work on the older firmware.

However I would not recommend joining the tariff yet, it is only good during the bright months (when generation significantly exceeds your house load). Use a different tariff over winter. I plan to move onto it towards the end of April, or in May.
Re: Octopus Energy are now installing Fox ESS and offering Intelligent Flux!
Hi, yea, I understand that side of it, but as the basic rate drops to 12p on Sunday I’m happy to move over to it now, as the sunny days will be here very soon.

Purpose of my post is that Fox say they don’t know what that tariff is, which seems very odd after seeing this new thread on the matter.

Yes, I had to update all my firmware, which I did successfully, but it still isn’t allowing me to give full access to octopus. Unfortunately, I think I have someone at Fox customer service who doesn’t seem to understand my question or want to help. Just keeps saying ‘ask octopus what that tariff is’, I’m sure they know what the tariff is so how will that help the connection that isn’t working?
