Hi all,
I’m trying to understand the **Impact** section of the FoxESS app — specifically the conversions for **CO₂ saved**, **trees planted**, and **oil saved**.
For YTD, my system reported:
- **Solar generation:** 60.5 kWh
- **Battery discharge:** 37.3 kWh
- **Grid import:** 67.9 kWh
- **Grid export:** 7.5 kWh
- **Battery charge:** 60.7 kWh
- **Total load:** 97.5 kWh
And the app shows:
- **CO₂ saved:** 99.1 kg
- **Trees planted:** 99.4
- **Oil saved:** 12.2 L
When I reverse‑engineer the numbers:
- 99.1 kg CO₂ over ~97.8 kWh suggests the app is using **~1.0 kg CO₂ per kWh**
- But **99.1 kg CO₂ = 99.4 trees** implies **1 tree = 1 kg CO₂**, which doesn’t match any published absorption rates
- And **99.1 kg CO₂ = 12.2 L oil** implies **8.1 kg CO₂ per litre**, which is far above standard fuel emission factors
I can’t find any documentation from FoxESS explaining how these conversions are calculated.
**Does anyone know the actual methodology behind these Impact metrics?**
Are these numbers meant to be scientific, or are they just rough “gamified” equivalents?
Would appreciate any insight from installers, engineers, or anyone who has dug into this.
Thanks!

If you want, I can also prepare a **shorter**, more provocative version designed to spark faster replies — or a more technical one aimed at installers and firmware people.
