Hi folks
I have now got home assistant, an H1 Inverter and batteries. Can any one tell me if I can get my EP12 batteries to charge on out of hours off-peak without having a modbus integration ( ie by cloud integration only ) appreciate any answers thanks

Good news and progress . I have discovered that my inverter is the latest WL version so does not need modbus hardware for integration.
Now for the next task I am trying to understand whether an automation is a single action ie if the meter grid provides off peak rate then switches to force charge with a second automation being the opposite switching to self use or whether the on and the off are two lines with trigger 1 going to action 1 and trigger 2 going to action 2 and saves as one automation
Also to ensure that this works do I have to change anything in the app mode scheduler

I followed this video from Will
You have 2 automations, one waits for the Off peak to turn on, changes the Inverter into Force Charge, it works with the Dynamic IOG slots, and the night time period.
Next automation waits for the opposite, where Off peak turns off, changes mode to Self-use/Feed-in for daytime or after you have had a random IOG slot occur.

Thanks so much for the clarification - I will need to separate my automations. And it doesn’t matter if the time based scheduler is still active in the app from 11.30pm to 0530 ? Do I just leave that alone and the modbus takes over ?

You can't have the time based scheduler running in the cloud and manually control the inverter, the time based schedule is actually running in the Manager and will over-ride anything you set locally (this is worse in the new app as a default workmode schedule is always running when scheduler is enabled).
When you are ready to control it locally, disable the scheduler completely and do everything in HA.

Hi Dave
That is really helpful, I’ve no idea how I disable the cloud based scheduler.
Any idea how I do this?

Sorry for delay, the doorbell went.
Exactly what Dave has wrote, you need to get things ready and disable your mode scheduler once you are ready to run your automations.
Once you have these set and running, it will work when the fixed 23:30 to 05:30 Off Peak is "On"
It will also activate when you have any random IOG slot outside of these times.

Hi Dave
That is really helpful, I’ve no idea how I disable the cloud based scheduler.
Left side menu: Device -> Inverter, then click on your listed Inverter.
Then on this page you have below the Energy Flow section - Work Model:Feed-in Priority here you click on the Blue Square box
Then you should see Strategy Period with Blue + and to the right side there is a Master toggle for enable/disabling your scheduler.
If stuck, I could make pictures, but I am sure you will find.

You can also de-activate the Scheduler in the new app by selecting a WorkMode in the 'Basic' selection - once you've set a workmode it actually disables the scheduler master switch.

Good to know that something works in the new App version
Thanks for the alternative method, will try and remember if it gets asked again.

As a home assistant user the first thing I always do is work out how to disable scheduler

I usually do poke new versions, but been a little busy to push all the new buttons. And yes this is the way for sure, stop it from breaking HA should be number 1 priority.

…. And it works - all as expected and getting an extra hour of off peak charging because of the IOg and the home assistant automation - that’s superb Thks

I bet you are like a dog with two tails now, a full bladder and a forrest worth of trees
One thing I like about the system, is when IoG give you a slot, and change their mind last moment to do a car charge... you get the 7p, and the battery will charge even if the car doesn't.

Probably too much imagery but yes very pleased with how it works and how this community has helped me - I’m now getting my batteries up to 100% and because the IOG probably getting another hour a day of cheap rate power into my house as well as charging the batteries. The subtlety of the way the command works is that even if the battery is at 100% it doesn’t discharge until the peak electricity trigger comes back so essentially it is telling my house, the batteries and my car to only take off peak power and all the rest of the time discharge the battery. Cant wait to see how my gbp400/month electricity bills change !! ( just checked and January last year - my bill was gbp489 this year gbp210 and not optimised with home assistant or even working all the time )

The holding of the battery at 100% until 05:30 is my favourite part of it, and of course the topping up of the battery in the random IOG slots that you get, can keep the house in the black so to speak.

So all has been well until my meter and check comms unit bricked and so after many calls octopus replaced my meter and I re-integrated home assistant and my new meter- charged perfectly for the first night but second night automation started perfectly with off peak but then stopped at midnight and stated discharging - I think something has happened with the scheduler . I have disabled it in the pc version and also switched to a non work schedule mode but don’t seem to be able to delete the phantom strategy period even though it is disabled and I think this may be an interference[/img]
Appreciate any thoughts as always

The only difference between your picture and mine, is I don't have the ghost schedule.
Even if that ghost schedule did activate, it should have been charging and not discharging.
I think you need to look at HA logs to see what happened at midnight, just before and after.

Didn’t see too much in the log. But what I have noticed is that in my automation I have the triggers for off and on of the off peak electricity but only have the sensor for switching off the off peak which does not come back if I reload the octopus integration

If you click on the sensor, it should show the history.

Did your Off-peak sensor work for last night?

Yes it appears to have done as I have the car charging up until 6am and the batteries charged too so it seems I have managed to disable the scheduler which is what I think was the problem- new challenge is that my second inverter has now arrived and will be installed on Monday so making sure both work and both operate together will be exciting !
