Hi from Gloucestershire

Hi all. I've just had my system installed this week. 14 x 510 panels and a 10kw battery.

I've been trying to get my head around the app but for some reason I can't understand why my load keeps jumping to 6kw and the battery isn't charging. The house is empty so there's no way it can be using that much energy. Anyone have any thoughts?

Also, if anyone can tell me how to add a photo to this forum that would be appreciated.

Thanks

Will

If the load is jumping to 6kW in theory something large is taking that much power (an oven / air conditioner or EV charger) - but being such a new install it could be a fault in the placement of the CT clamp - Really need to see the graphs to try and diagnose it.

When you post below the box you type in is an Options/Attachments tab - click on the Attachments, Add files and then upload the files from your computer, photo stream etc.. and they will be added to the post when you submit.

Hi Dave

Thanks for replying to me on this.

I've moved the CT clamp on to the same cable as my Hypervolt charger CT and it seems to read ok now. I was trying to set it so that the battery doesn't see the car charger as a load as I'm in IOG and I know there's no integration with that yet on the Fox systems. I'll see if I can work out which cable it needs to be on or I'll have to schedule the charger and battery on the off peak rate overnight only for now.

I've found the attachment now too thanks, I can't believe I couldn't find it yesterday

It’s not always possible to eliminate the EV charger from being read by the inverter, it will depend on how it has been wired but if you can clip the inverter CT so that it only reads the inverters output and the house load that is the cable you are looking for.

It may be you will need to get a sparky to split the grid feed on a Henley block where it comes out of your smart meter - one side feeds the EV, the other side the house / inverter and the CT will be clamped there.

Thanks. This is how mine is wired:

That looks like the solar system is wired directly from the Henley blocks to the black consumer unit below the meter cupboard - Is the EV being fed from a circuit breaker in the black consumer also ?

Yes I think that's how it's wired and yes the EV is powered from a CB in the box underneath.

Ok, that’s the problem because of the way it’s wired there is no possibility to move the CT clamp to see the inverter and the house load only, so the only way to charge without flattening your battery is to set a charge period on the inverter at the same time which isn’t so great for IOG.

If you are able to set up a home assistant on the current wiring it is possible to watch the Octopus tariff and stop the inverter discharging whilst the car is charging but the absolute fix is to wire the EV charge to a henley block on the feed from the smart meter so that it is in front of the inverters CT and house load, that will obviously require a sparky to fix for you but it will give you peace of mind that IOG can never steal all your battery power.

Hi Dave

Thanks for taking the time to get back to me about this. That's annoying that they've done it that way. I was looking at setting up home assistance and a modbus but I'm not quite sure where to start with it all?
