Re: solar compatible EV Charger
Most popular and highest rated are the Hypervolt or Zappi chargers - i’ve had the Zappi for over 3 years and it has been faultless and integrates well with Octopus if you want to choose their Intelligent EV tariffs.

thank you for your reply.

with the Zappi unit, wil the excess power get direct it to the car? instead of feeding the grid..

Yes it has an ECO mode and an ECO+ mode and it detects how much export is available.

The minimum amount of charge power an EV will accept is 6A (~1400 watts), in ECO mode if there is more than 1400 watts export it will all go into the EV up to a max of 7.2kW.

In the ECO+ mode you can specify a minimum green level (MGL) so for example if there was only 1000 watts of spare solar it wouldn’t be enough to start charging, - you can set the MGL to 70% then the remaining 400 watts would be taken from the grid so the car keeps charging even if there are passing clouds.
