Technically speaking, you have been doing this since 2024 (or whenever you set the overnight charge) so the power would be the same, around 22 Amps (5000 Watt Inverter)

Hell to the yeah, not a lot, but it sure will for you. Some people actually do this daily, they charge to full and dump to actively earn money.

It really comes down to personal choices.
At least, discharge it monthly to keep a better calibration on the individual cells, and help the BMS learn the end points.


You can program it every night, and then it should work as intended. Only consideration is your battery holds the previous "cheaper" rate power, and once it is flat, you will be using the expensive grid power until the cheap rate starts.

In more detail, let's say you have 1kWh of power left in the battery, you discharge this and get 15p for the export.
Now you have a flat battery, you might draw in 0.33kWh of power at 30p for each kWh, so it cost you 10p as you had no choice. On balance you made 5p, and if you factor in cost of battery, maybe a big fat 0p.

Of course if there is say 3kWh of power left in the battery, you then make 45p and spent 10p.


So back to the start, comes down to personal choices... for me I don't dump the power. This is also because my EV Charger is not wired in so that it charges the car when I do a Force Discharge! I only dump the battery when the EV is not connected and it's been around a month.

Interestingly I tried this the other day with older firmware (KH7 Manager 1.37), and it failed with an error message, but after updating the firmware today I was able to set the import limit to 23kW (to match my main fuse, no EV).

I guess they must have added in the corrected ranges that can be input. Sadly the FW notes are lacking for the older versions, and maybe even the current ones do not state this?

Does your HA report correct 1.02 slave now if you have done a HA reboot?

I'll check the next time I reboot - I try to minimise the number of reboots because my Riemann integrals lose data when I do. So generally wait until there is a HA update.

I loaded one today, 17.1 I think, cannot blame you on avoiding reboots if it causes data loss (logs)
