Octopus Agile / Battery discharge

Hi all,

Hoping someone can help on this, sort of a two fold question.

1) I've linked my Octopus Agile but the Mode Scheduler seems to enable and then by the time I look at the app next, it is disabled? Is this normal? How do I know its actually working?

2) I've noticed that overnight the batteries have charged so maybe the above is working, however they haven't then discharged so I've pulled from the grid to charge the batteries and then am still pulling from the grid to cover the household load, despite the batteries having 100% charge. Surely the batteries should cover the load now they are charged?

Any help would be appreciated! Novice here so please be kind/patient :D

I'm not an agile user, but i've taken this from a recent post from a user that had been struggling to set it up.
I finally got the Agile scheduling to work in the Fox app... I don't know if it's because I just updated the app today.
One thing I did differently than before, is that I refreshed the battery page then viewed the Manual page and I could see the scheduled charge time slots.
These are the steps to follow:
Step #1 - set the Agile trigger price
Step #2 - press Submit
Step #3 - exit the mode scheduler
Step #4 - pull down on the battery page to refresh
Step #5 - select Mode Scheduler
Step #6 - select the Manual page, and all the time slots should be displayed.
I also tested the Agile mode (Time Slot) - which worked as well.
But the previously scheduled time slots were not deleted, but instead disabled.

Hi,
Yes the above is what I have done but for some reason every time I return to the app the mode scheduler is disbaled and there are no slots active in the manual area?

Secondly, any idea on why the battery isn't discharging to cover the household load? I have 100% charge right now, nothing coming from the solar yet the grid is covering my household load and not the battery?

There are a couple of things to check,

Do you have any charge periods set - if not they must be left at 00:00-00-00
Are your minsoc's set correctly at 10%
Check you have no schedules set and you are in Self Use work mode

If they are correct it is possible that your inverter 'manager' has crashed, which will require you to restart the inverter - again there is a video in the guides section that would help with that - but the basic instructions are to isolate PV, isolate AC, power off the battery, wait 30 seconds after the inverter has gone blank, power on the battery, close the AC isolator, close the PV isolator.

The inverter will restart and after a minute of checking should go back on-line and be powering your load from battery

Ah interesting -so I am in self use mode.

I can't seem to set the Battery Reserve Capacity or the System Min SOC? They are both set to 0 and when I try and set them to say 10% it says "Beyond the configurable range"?!

If your battery minsoc's are not showing the inverter thinks your battery is off-line - is this a KH inverter by chance ?

I'd suggest you go with the full shutdown and restart, wait approx 10 minutes then check your app and see if it is showing battery information again.

The inverter model is AC1-5.0-E-G2 if that helps...

ok thanks, only asking as a KH user recently had a similar problem and needed a firmware update.

Go through the restart process, and then check to see if you have any active alarms (you can see that directly at the inverter panel in history) - or in the app but you'll need to wait for it to be on-line again.

If you can then check your firmware versions and i'll look up the latest for you.

Done the restart process and the battery is still sat at 100% and is not discharging. I’m trying to get the people who installed it to help but they don’t seem to want to talk to me. I’m not sure what else I can do. The percentages have now populated so I have a Battery Reserve Capacity of 100% and a Min Soc of 10%. I don’t seem to be able to change them however.

You will want both minsoc and minsoc on grid set to 10% and then click save.

Hi Will. Thanks for the reply. Where do I find both of those? In the app I tap on the battery and have system min soc which is set at 10% already (if I try and change that anything it says “beyond the configurable range”). But where is minsoc on grid? Thanks.

If you are looking at the V2 app min soc on grid is called ‘Battery Reserve Capacity’ - both should be set to 10%

Ah fab. Yes that has worked! Thank you both for the help, annoyed it wasn’t set up correctly in the first place!!!

Ok great :) - they may have been set ok to start, when you set schedules there is a setting for Minimum SoC and FDSoC - when force discharging the FDSoC tells it when to stop discharging but the Minimum SoC changes the min_soc_on_grid (or Battery reserve Capacity as its now called) and it will leave it at that level even when the schedule has finished - it should always be set to 10%.
