Inverter error

Can anyone help please?
Please forgive me if this is a stupid question - new to all this!
Mother in law appears to have inverter faults, no mains power (though the few lights/sockets connected to the battery are working).
The app is showing inverter Errors Code-1, Code-26, Code-27.
Any ideas what the problem might be?
Is it just a power cut (she thinks not)?
Unfortunately I'm not going to be able to go over and check until this evening.

Those faults mean no utility, voltage/frequency error - the most likely candidate for that is that the breaker (or the RCD) feeding the inverter has tripped.

It’s usually a separate small consumer unit with an isolator and breaker but if there isn’t much space you can find them in the main consumer unit - basically ask her to check for any breakers (often labelled PV or solar) being in a different position to the others.

Good Evening Everyone,

We need urgent assistance since our Fox Ess was installed, we had issues from time to tome where whenever we switch to our Escom power it would run for 1 -5 hours and then it would dip. In the area our voltages is low and run between 200v to 210v so our installer said this was the problem and they are not aure how to fix this. This evening using my microwave it kicked out and now it does not want to come back on and says gird fault. What do we need to do or how do I restart the system in order to clear the error?

Restart the inverter to clear the fault, to do that you need to open the solar (PV)isolator, open the AC circuit breaker and power off the batteries - this video might help https://youtu.be/xBTtKaX-k14?si=YV7tO4rHkK58Ginp

Once the inverter has powered down, then reverse the process - batteries power on, AC breaker turn on, solar (PV) turned on and after running self checks it should start normally.

Thank You Dave, this looks very help full. We will try and revert back.

I really appreciate your feedback and prompt assistance.

Kind regards,

Hi Dave,

After the reset, the inverter now juat says waiting. So it works but on the screen it just says waiting and we can pick up anything on the app to see if it works though and if we get a feed from the inverter

Hi Dave, we managed to fix the waiting error om the inverter. But we received an error stating grid voltage fault? What does this mean and how can we fix it? We have an issue in the area that we stay that we only receive 200-210v. So this is low how can we fix the inverter based on this as the normal voltages should be 220-230 but we dont get that volts in our area?

It's an error generated because the grid voltage has gone outside of the allowable range, 200-210v is getting extremely low and it is likely it will fall below that when you turn an appliance on - I don't know what chance you have of getting your electricity supplier to address it, in the UK they are obligated to do it but I appreciate it is very different across Europe.

It is worth checking what the lower limits have been set to on the inverter, it cannot operate if the voltage falls below 184V and there is a good chance that you are seeing this happen for short durations which will trip the inverter.

If you go to the inverter panel, and click on Settings, enter the password (usually 0{enter} * 4) and then choose the menu item 'On-Grid', then 'Grid Params', in the list will be Vac lower 1 and Vac lower 2 - if you select them you will see what they are set to in volts, if they are higher than 184V set them both to 184V and exit the menu.

If they are already set to 184V I would get in touch with your installer and ask if they could increase the 'Volt low limit (1&2) protect time' - this can be done remotely by them (or by Fox ESS), it is only available to installers - I would suggest that it is increased to 10 seconds.

What this does is the inverter will allow the voltage to drop below the limit for a short period before it trips, when you turn an appliance on the voltage will dip but within a few seconds it should start to rise again and hopefully by increasing this protect time the inverter will get through the low limit alarm.

Thank you for the feedback Dave, much appreciated. We will address this accordingly with the installer. I really appreciate your feedback. I'll keep you posted.
