Hi, for the second time we have lost connection to the Foxx Ess V1.50.18 app, the first was for just 24 hours, we had no intervention with it and just began working again; this latest has been since Thursday 11/04/2024. We have followed Will’s video to isolate, shutdown and restart the FoxESS hardware but could not kick-start the app.
Solar is being exported as confirmed by Octopus export file and also the IHD. (The app shows offline, updated 3 months ago, PV, Load, Battery and Grid all showing 0).
Question 1. Is this a known problem with the Fox Ess app?
Question 2.. Noted Fox Ess V2 is available, would it be advisable to upgrade? We’re not confident in doing this as our installer set this up for us.
We contacted the installer late Friday so no response expected until Monday at least.
Thanks for any advice. Heather.

The V2 app is still in beta but much better than the original app, I would recommend you upgrade to that (but keep the V1 app).
You can also login at the Foxesscloud.com website using the same credentials.
The main thing to determine is it the app not working, or is the inverter 'off-line' ? - if the inverter is off-line it is more likely the datalogger (also known as the dongle) has lost connection to your wifi.
You can check that by looking at the bottom right hand side of the inverter and there is a wifi stick pointing down, the red light flashes rapidly if it has fallen off your wifi - slowly if it is connected ok - if it's a newer install it probably means that the wifi is too weak at the inverter to be reliable, this can be corrected using wifi repeaters etc.. but best to leave that for your installer.
All things being equal I would recommend you search for the 3rd part app called 'Energy Stats' by Al Priest - a considerable number of users prefer the simplicity of that app display and ease of setting charge periods etc..
