Fox ESS Wifi dongle enhancement request

Hi,
I have a S series G2 inverter - works great. I use home assistant and at the moment I'm using a custom integration that fetches the inverter data from the fox ess cloud but personally, me (and a lot of people) prefer to have a "local IOT network" (not cloud/internet dependent) so I'm about to move into a custom solution where I'll replace the wifi dongle with custom hardware (esp + rs485 - well... almost same hardware as the wifi dongle).

So, my question/feature request is: Can the wifi dongle firmware be enhanced to:
- Add a config choice to select "cloud" or "local" or "both".
- When "local" is selected, add a config section to setup a MQTT server (ip, port, topics, etc).

Then the dongle would just connect to the mqtt server and publish the data...

It doesn't seem to be that hard (or even take that many time to implement).

I imagine this would make many people happy...

Thanks,
Luis

Unfortunately I don't think anyone who works for Fox reads this forum - it's not actually anything to do with the manufacturer themselves.

There is a link in my post signature to the "Contact Us" page on the FoxESS website, best bet is to email them directly I'd say.

My mistake then!
I'll try by email but expectations are low...

Anyway... has anyone tried to re-use this wifi dongle hardware?
Inside it has an ESP32 and a STM32 micro.
First step would be to reverse engineer the circuit (what pins connect to where).
