Meter at a distance

Dear all,
It's strange to me that I can't find information regard this but here it goes:
I can't connect the inverter to the main eletrical board of the house and I have it installed into a partial eletrical board in the garage.
Doing this, I can't use the Meter function and will not know the house consumption in the app.
Is there a way to remotely connect a meter from the main eletrical board to the inverter in the garage to retrieve the necessary information?
Thank you all
David

In simple terms, you install the meter in the main board and run a cable back to the meter connection of the inverter.
The inverter has to have a way to know if (and how much) the house is pulling from the grid, or exporting!

Thank you for your help!
Isn't there a wi-fi/remote way to do this?
Using RS485 for sending and receiving data?
Cheers,
David

As far as I'm aware, the meter or CT needs to be hardwired.
Separately, it's possible to monitor the performance of the inverter using RS485 / Modbus.

Hi David and Calum,
My garage is 50m from the CU in the house and has its own sufficient supply with a local CU. I foresaw the same problem and checked the max distance to hardwire a CT, which I think is v. long and certainly my setup works well with the inverter close to the garage CU and connected to one of its ways. I laid in a 25mm conduit from the house to the garage and pulled through several cables. The CT is on a simple pair of wires, whilst I also ran a Cat 5 cable and some other mains to allow the EPS to feed the house in the future. My Cat 5 cable allows me much better connection to the broadband router.
I know it is not recommended to mix data and mains cabling in one conduit but it is perfectly safe and I have had no problems with my present usage.
The installer simply cut the 5m or so CT cable and wired one end in at the CU with the split clamp and the other to the H1 inverter, using my 2 wires as a 50m extension to it. BTW you can use Cat5 cable (i.e. twisted pairs) for the CT connection but it is not necessary. The CT provides a voltage output proportional to current at 50Hz so is not especially vulnerable to interference.
I hope that may help - I did check beforehand with my installer but didn't get much detail as to the options he had experience of.
Good Luck,
Alan

Hello all,
We are currently using this solution to be able to have readings on consumptions even having the inverter on a local CU.

Was there meant to be a picture attached to your post? If so it hasn't worked, unfortunately

Unfortunately it's just a link to an Imgur picture of some sort of wireless dongle with x4 screw terminals, it doesn't link to anything else though.

We use that as a sender and receiver so we can have the information from the main CU at a distance.

What’s this device name? Did you tested? Does it works? Where can you buy it?
