Hi

I'm having issues generating an api key, the "Generate API Key" button in v1 site is disabled, are there any workarounds that I can use to generate a v1 key ? I've tried to use the developers portal's generated key, but it doesn't seem to work.

Would appreciate some guidance here.. thanks a lot in advance.

P.S. - I'm logging in v1 website using the username

I’m seeing the same thing, and the ‘new’ developers portal is not providing a valid api key - not sure what’s going on, sadly no obvious work around so will need Fox to resolve this one.

Yup same issue here its greyed out for me on v1 - also wasnt able to login to the developer portal too with the credential i made for it a day or 2 ago. reached out to support and have a convo going on whatsapp with them - will report back with updates

I've started a conversation with them via support email and they seem to have done some changes to V1 website, API Management page now points to Open Platform.

The API key generated on the new platform, still doesn't work, I bet it doesn't work with "legacy" authentication , or if there's any kind of error we're doing.

I'll provide updates as soon as I have them.

They actually changed something for sure, the key generated via OpenPlatform is now working.

Please try again on your side.

It is indeed now working!, I created an apikey in the new platform, loaded into my test system and it's running perfectly

I am new to Fox and the API.

I have registered with OpenPlatform and can create a client app which makes you use OAuth. Is it possible to get an API key from OpenPlatform? If so, how?

On the deviceCompact page I can see a list of 15+ devices and links to documents on the left but no reference to API keys. Where is it?

Are you signed in in https://developer-eu.foxesscloud.com/login ? If you're not, you don't see the API Keys menu item.

https://developer-eu.foxesscloud.com/dashboard shows my username in the lower left corner. i can see my two client apps on the dashboard so i think i am.

I don't see any Client Apps on my side, I don't even know how to create them

maybe, it's because you have client apps registered thus API Keys don't show up ? I really don't know..

I think I got it now, you're profile is of type "Independent Dev", mine is of "End User", most probably that's why it shows different options.

Do you have an End User account you can try with ?

if i try to login to OpenPlatform using my end-user account name is says incorrect details, however if i use the end-user email address it works.

Hi all - just had solar and Fox ESS KH8 inverter installed yesterday, and so decided to jump into Home Assistant as well.

So have managed to get HA working, and the FoxESS app installed, down to it now requiring the following:
deviceID: enter_your_inverter_id
deviceSN: enter_your_inverter_serial_number
apiKey: enter_your_personal_api_key

1st 2 i think i have done based on youtube and my app for the details - API i am stumped, so came across this thread (why is it so difficult...?)

Anyway, although I have checked my details, the page https://developer-eu.foxesscloud.com/dashboard will not allow me to log in as an end user, although will if i create an Independent Dev account, although (unsurprisingly) this does not allow me to set up an API key.

So am i doing something really stupid? Should my normal dashboard log-in work to get my API Key?

I did then think about going down the Modbus route, but cant find any youtube links to advise what hardware i need, and how to install. My inverter is outside, so would need to be wireless.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

You must sign in with your fox cloud login details. Sometimes usernames are not allowed and you will need to ensure you have an email address on your account and then sign in with your email address and password.

Does the new developer portal have implications for the existing Home Assistant integrations? There seem to be two options at the moment. One is read only and is limited by API calls. Then another that may supersede it as it provides faster updates similar to the app and also allows control of battery modes.

@Will - any thoughts on this?

Currently you need to use the read only grant type.
