H3-12.0E Performance
I am a brand new user of a FOX inverter (hybrid, but I don't have batteries yet) since a couple of weeks and I wondered about the relatively big difference between input power and output power of the inverter - shown in the app in the real-time display. I monitored the values for several hours and a short excel analysis showed about 3.8 % average loss relativ to input power. I also noticed the cooling fins to become very hot. Today I installed a small fan below the unit in order to keep the inverter equipment cooler and did a short measerment of input and output values. The difference is astonishing even though I expected a better performance. A short measurement of about 20 samples shows now an average loss of 2.1 %. Has anybody noticed a similar behaviour?
Converting DC to AC isn't a perfectly efficient process, I'd expect some losses. Also worth noting that the power electronics that do the conversion are more efficient when cooled, so the improvement on adding the fan makes sense.
