Hullo there, I'm Chez.

We've had a FoxESS system and an air source heat pump since March, installed on the grant system. The installers added batteries and an EPS box for us. We also have an EV. I am at the stage where I want to ditch the app and control it directly via Home Assistant, because the cloud seems to be down more than it's up. I am currently digging through everyone else's threads on getting up and running, to avoid asking questions that have already been answered .

I don't even have Home Assistant set up yet, so I'm rapidly upskilling--I am an old coder, but have been raising babies for twenty years and my skills are rusty. One of my broader goals is to de-google/amazon/microsoft, so Home Assistant was always on the cards once we ditched Alexa, this has just brought it all forward.

Nice to meet you all!

Chez

Welcome to the forum :) the home assistant route gives the best (local) control, it’s quite the rabbit hole but if have you some coding experience it will be straight forward.

There’s a link here to the home assistant integration wiki page https://github.com/nathanmarlor/foxess_modbus/wiki, and have a look at Will’s videos on youtube (search ‘iameccles’ )
