How easy to add a battery?
Hello forum,

I've had quotes for install of Fox ESS H1 G2 6.0kW 1ph Hybrid inverter and 2 or 3 Fox ESS EP12 Plus 11.52kWh batteries.

The mark up on the batteries is quite a bit. I totally understand there will be some mark up, but I'm trying to limit the spend.

What I'm considering is going ahead with just 1 battery fitted by MCS installer and adding extra at a later date.

Would it be straight forward to add another battery or batteries?

Thanks in advance :P
Re: How easy to add a battery?
It's relatively straight forward, but they are very heavy - an EP12 is approx 100kg and must be mounted on a bracket that is bolted to a wall, so as long as you are capable of moving them it is easy enough to connect.

The only comment to make is that 1 EP12 connects directly to the inverter, any more than 1 needs a junction box that allows up to 4 batteries to be connected, so either fit 1 and ask your installer to fit the junction box 'in case' you expand later - or ask him to fit 2 batteries then you'll get it by default.

Thank you @dave foster. Good to hear.

The quotes included a Fox junction box, so I'll keep that in, and go ahead with a single unit for now.
