Zappi Vs EP12 Battery (Qty 2) - Charging Issue.

Morning All,

First post on here, so be gentle & appreciate this issue would have likely been discussed, but as new to all of this, ideally looking for answers & a resolution to my specific issue.

I've just had 2 x Fox EP12 Batteries & a H1 6kW Hybrid inverter fitted last Wednesday (18/02), I've run into issues overnight whilst trying to both force charge the EP12's at 6kW & charge my EV via my MyEnergi Zappi.

The scenario was this:

1) Myenergi Zappi was set (scheduled charge, not IOG smart charge, although I'm on the IOG tariff) to charge the EV between 23:30 to 05:30 - Completed, house drew just over a constant 7kW, charge finished on time (as EV nearly full). All is working as expected.

2) MyEnergi Eddi was set to heat the DHW via immersion between 04:30 & 05:30 - Completed, house drew an additional 3kW, for an approx 20 min period, total house load approx 10.2kW. All is working as expected.

3) Fox EP12's set to 'Force Charge' via the App between 23:30 to 05:30, no charge added to the battery.

This morning, I have completed the following:

1) Set battery to force charge between 06:50 to 07:30, force charge started on time, drawing 6kW (Inverter capacity) from the grid, flow showing correctly on the (Grid to Batt) on the MyEnergi App.

2) Set Zappi on a scheduled charge for 15 mins from 07:00. Charge started, drew 7kW from the grid, EP12 charge (started above), stopped for the period the EV took 7kW down to nothing. Hence, repeating the issue I had overnight.

3) At 07:30, EP12 Force Charge stopped, EP12's now supplying the house, flow showing correctly (Battery to House) on the MyEnergi App.

Therefore:

Certain this is not an import supply issue from the grid, but more likely a logic/control issue?

(Don't think it's a CT Clamp issue as energy flows are showing correctly (Grid to Batt), within the MyEnergi App).

Any help/direction would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Gareth.

Check your inverters Import Limit settings, you have to do that at the inverter panel.

It is helpful to know what your main house fuse is (likely to be 80A or 100A), if in doubt safer to choose 80A not least you have a lot of heavy loads that will be running in parallel.

On the inverter, go to Settings, enter the password (0,0,0,0) - then On-grid, Export Control and you (depending on your firmware version) will see either 1 or 2 Import Limit settings. Set the ImportLimitPwr to 18400 (80A * 230V) and then set the ImportLimitCur to 80 (A) - and if you can post what was there before the change please.

Morning Dave,

Thanks for the prompt reply.

The main fuse is 100A.

I'll check the Inverter settings shortly...

Thanks,

Gareth.

Dave - Thank you.

I think I've resolved it...

The Import Limit Pwr setting was set at 6kW & the Import Limit Cur was at 100A

I've increased the Import Limit Pwr to 18.4kW as you suggested, & I'm currently force charging the battery at 6kW & the EV at 7.1kW. Along with minor house loads - PV input, I'm currently importing 14.7k from the grid.

Thanks again.

Gareth.

Great, glad you have it all working

As you’ve got a 100A fuse you’ve got some scope to increase it further if needed but 18.4kW should be plenty

Indeed, all is working fine.

EP12's charged to full overnight, EV charged via Zappi.

Agreed, I'll leave it at 18'4k, should be plenty for our needs.

Thanks again, Gareth.
