Hi All, I’ve had a quick look in the archives but can’t find specific answers so apology’s upfront,,,,,,I’m new! 9 x 450w panels, inventor and 12kw battery.
A couple of issues,,,,
1) today, for example, my battery is still at 57% but it’s not discharging. All my demand (600w approx) is being supplied from the grid?
2) on approx 10 days per month I wake up expecting battery to be full but it’s only 45%?
3) my battery and inventor are outside and exposed to the elements ie snow, ice, low temps etc,,,should I ask for them to be moved to a less exposed area or would it benefit me building an insulated cupboard around them?
4) is the a downloadable /printable user guide available that I could browse rather than relying on tinernet as I’m a bit of a technophobe?
Thanks
Holmezy

I'm gonna take a stab at answering your questions, as I've had similar experiences recently...
1) This could be because the battery is heating. While heating, it can't discharge. Does it ever change to discharging? Which model battery do you have?
2) Likely due to the cold weather we've had - see this other thread viewtopic.php?t=2630
3) They'll function in the cold (though may slow their rates down), unless it gets really cold (all activity pauses until they heat up). Many users have built a Kingspan box around the battery - see viewtopic.php?p=11899&hilit=kingspan#p11899
4) Which inverter do you have? We can then provide you with the link to download from

Hi Kosymodo,
Thanks for the response!
1) what does “battery heating” mean, just out of interest? Yes it does discharge usually with no problems. Battery is a Fox ESS EP12
2) yep, I suspected the cold had something to do with it!
3) insulated box it is then!
4) Invertor is Fox ESS H1-5.0-E-G2
I’d like to understand what the app is telling me,,,,,I’ve been 0% self sufficiency, whatever that is? And 92% self consumption which I assume is good, but don’t know? Then there’s all the other parameters that I may or may not be able to change or don’t need to change,,,,,it’s a mystery!
Thanks for any incoming help!

Re: Battery not discharging, amongst other issues!
Battery heating video, in basic it keeps the battery temperature from falling so low it stops working.
It might require firmware updates to your Inverter so that it knows what a heated battery is, and how to operate it.
You will probably need to update the firmware in your battery to enable heater functions also.
It sounds like you have already found and are using the Fox Cloud 2.0 App.
If you click on your Device at the bottom middle of the screen, this will show your hardware (Inverter/Battery)
Now when you click on each in turn, you will see a new page where you can press top middle on the Serial Number for each device.
Screenshot your Inverter & Battery pages or write down the firmware versions here for more help.

They are the Serial Numbers, useful to give to Fox support if you need firmware upgrading.
Here is the Inverter FW page for mine, this is one of the two screenshots it would help if you can provide. viewtopic.php?p=12008#p12008
