Should I enable balanceload on the H3-10.0-smart inver?

Hi,
I just noticed that the balanceload setting on the inverter is set to disabled by default.

Should we enable it?

If your electricity supplier is billing by net metering then it is normal to have balanced load enabled - the load is balanced by default with the H3 inverters out of the box.

FWIW net metering is where your energy supplier measures the load on all 3 phases and aggregates it, so for example if you were exporting 2kW on one phase but importing 1kw on the other phases the ‘net meter’ would be 0.

Hi Dave,

Thank you very much for the reply!

As you said “ the load is balanced by default with the H3 inverters out of the box”, do you mean even if the balance load is disabled, H3 will still balance the load?
(By default it is set as disabled, just checked.)

I don’t know the provider will charge the net.
They would treat the export as feed-in at 2.8 cents per kWh and charge 37cents for the load per kWh.

It may be the setting of the H3 Smart is different for certain countries, the older H3 was always set as balanced load.

You may have seen this already but it's a helpful summary for the balanced vs unbalanced operation - and note the maximum 1/3 of the inverters max power limit on each phase whichever mode you are in.

Thank Dave!
I will enable the load balancing in setting, as it is no harm to me.

Yeah I read this chart in the manual.
It explains that balancing is good for the load not exceeding limit on single phase.

Just was curious about it is shown as disabled in the setting.

I have a single phase 5kw hot water, the load is still pretty similar on each phase when charging from grid. So I agree it is balanced anyway.

Update:

The setting of load balance is just logically wrong. It is balanced when you disable it (the default), unbalanced when enabled.
