Disconnection from grid

Hello,
I am about to become a FoxESS owner based in Australia. I have been looking at the Demo option of the FoxCloud2 app (version V2.1.57). I couldn't find any option in the app, nor a thread in this forum, that discusses the ability to manually force a disconnection from the grid via the app. I am looking for an option to force my system to go into backup mode even if the grid is available. Is this action or working mode possible?
Regards,
Ian.

No it is not possible to force a disconnection from the app, you can run the inverter in backup mode and have essential circuits connected to the EPS socket, however when the grid is available the inverter is effectively on-grid and will still be grid synced.
It sounds as if you are looking for a grid isolator switch that can be triggered remotely (home assistant ?)

Hello Dave,
Thanks for responding.
Yes, there have been cases where I have endured very dirty power from the grid an I have chosen to shut the house down rather than suffer damage. I don't know how the new FoxESS system will handle the issue so I thought I should ask if a manual disconnection was an option.
I am very limited in the devices and options I can consider as all electrical connections that link to the grid supply must be RCM approved (
https://www.eess.gov.au/rcm/regulatory- ... m-general/). Most of the smart home circuit breakers and power meters have CE certification but that won't fly here. I quite like the Atorch devices and I know they would do the job but there is no electrician I know that would risk their license to install them. Also, as a home owner, I would be voiding my home insurance by using any non-approved devices.
By the way, my home automation of choice is Google Home/Google Assistant. I have had issues in the past with Home Assistant so I moved on. These days I prefer a set and forget turnkey type system. (Boy do I know that there are problems with Google Assistant but so far there have been very few show stoppers. Also, if you believe the Internet, Google is due to have a massive revamp and upgrade of their ecosystem later this year.)
If you, or anyone else, have any other thoughts I would welcome them.
Regards,
Ian.
