G100 State 3

Day 2 of operation and we had a grid fault with an RCD trip. Not sure whether this was caused by inverter. But result is after a couple of attempts to restart the inverter (H1 G2 5kw) is showing G100 state 3. However settings are configured for G98 with an export limit of 3600W. The DC input is shown as near zero despite sunshine so I guess it's automatically cut that off. It's also not allowing power from the battery (EP11).

How do I clear the fault please? There's no 'clear fault' option. Is it some kind of remote lockout? And what settings are required to avoid this happening please?

Something wrong there, I think i'd start with checking you do have grid power at the inverter and nothing else has tripped - G100 State 3 suggests the inverter has lost power (which it had) and it has to be cleared by a complete restart but if the fault condition still exists it will not start up.

I'm not sure how you are restarting the inverter, but you must follow the procedure PV off, AC off, battery off - wait for the display to go blank, then battery on, AC on, PV on.

Note some batteries need a long press of the power button to start them back up.

The only concern I have is that it's talking about G100 at all - you've got a strange setting there with G98 and an export limit set (this might be confusing it that you are G100) - G98 as a safety standard mandates a maximum 16A export (3.68kw) so with G98 set you should leave your export power at 60,000 ('sixty' thousand = no limit set). Alternatively as you have a bigger inverter you would be much better setting the inverter to G99_UK and then setting your export limit of 3680 watts.

You haven't mentioned firmware versions (apologies if you have on another post) but the G2 is a newer inverter and has had a lot of bug fixes and features releases - you need to be sure you are on the latest firmware versions, and that your battery is also on the latest firmware. - The H1 G2 latest Master is 1.35, Slave is 1.03, Manager(ARM) is 1.52 - likewise your EP11 firmware should be on 1.007

Thanks very much. My installer just did a full set of firmware updates and switch to the G99 settings with the 3680W export limit.

After a full reset we get the same G100 state 3 error. Is this a lockout that needs clearing by the Agent or by Fox? My installer also has an agent account but can't find instructions from Fox on how to clear the fault. Any ideas please? And where can he find diagnostics on whether we are now compliant with the 'safety' constraints that trigger these errors. We just can't find documentation for the safety controls anywhere...

In all honesty i've never seen this error, but the response is for the inverter to stop - have you tried 'starting' the inverter - on the inverter long press the tick (3rd button from the left), if it says 'Start' select it and the inverter should go through it's startup process (checking, waiting, etc..)

Just an update: the Agent interface has a ClearEvents switch. This got rid of the G100 state 3 error and we are back up and running. I wish Fox would document this!

Thanks that is good to know for next time, it's obviously a newer function on the gen 2 inverters - the gen 1 inverters don't offer this setting within agent (or have a G100 lockout).
