I've got myself an Elfin EW11A and I'm planning to wire it up to my H1-G2. Managed to shut down inverter, disconnect and disassemble the RS485 16-pin connector to take a look and (after a little scare with the RCD tripping, lots of error codes and zeroes everywhere) get it all back up again without breaking anything. The inside of the connector looks like this:

Update: after looking at viewtopic.php?t=1658, I found a cable I had lying around with a couple of flat crimp pins and wired it up to the Elfin.
The problem is, the communication connector just doesn't seem to hold the pins at all and they slide right out again.
The wiring guide says:
Except... they haven't. Now what? Are those orange things just spring clamps - can I just pull them back and stick the RS485 wires in?Your installer may have left you with some pins into which you insert your wires. These pins are approximately 2cm in length and have red ends. Insert your wires into the red ends of the pins and the pins into the connector.
