Feed in without generation

Hello everyone! Newbie here!
I have had an ESS with AC Inverter installed recently. I notice that it feeds in to the grid even when there has been no generation. I contacted the installer (UPS Solar) and they tell me it is balancing voltages by sending small feeds into the grid, and when they were on the phone it was indeed sending only 0.03kW, but then this morning it was sending 1.3kW. Whenever a feed in starts, it usually lasts a minimum of 10 minutes. In variably it feeds in during the peak hours, which makes me think this is a back door way off supporting the grid rather than feeding in excess generation. I have tried different settings on the inverter, which made no difference. Currently, ‘self-use’, forced discharge cut off SOC 95%, forced discharge power 1w. So far in the 2 weeks since I have had it installed there has been an export of 5kWh on a total generation of 10kWh. Without the battery all this generation would have been completely self-used, but now I am exporting for noughts. Any thoughts?
Thanks.
