Battery temperature.
I've seen it mentioned that it's important to protect your battery from cold temperatures. A quick Google tells me that charge rate drops when cold but discharge is unaffected and the battery may shutdown totally below 0 degrees. The reduced charging could mean you run out of time to charge sufficiently during cheap rate. As I only have a 5.8kw battery is it too simplistic for me to say that I only really need to worry about sub 0 temperatures.

Re: Battery temperature.
Charging rate is more limited in the cold, than discharge rate... though discharge rate IS affected.
The battery might shutdown below 5°C for charging, highly limited rate if not. It can also do emergency charge without your input to warm itself (BMS controls this during extreme cold)

I recommend that you keep it above 9°C as your minimum ideally, though you are welcome to experiment below, and adjust as needed.

As you have say ~6kWh of storage, then you need to divide this by number of off peak hours, let's say 6hrs for ease. This means you are best to set a charge rate of 1,000W for the full 6 hours, it's kinder to the battery, and keeps it warm during charging. Again, as above, you may want to experiment with charge rates once you see some figures to back up your settings (does it charge to 100% in the off peak period)
Re: Battery temperature.
Thanks. I haven't experienced a winter yet so need to see how low it goes. My battery is in a corner of my garage adjacent to 2 internal walls so may be well protected anyway.
