I have a 10kWh battery with 5kWh inverter, but no solar as yet. However, since plug-in solar panels will be available in the UK from 27 August, I wondered how a couple of panels would cooperate with the battery?
In broad terms, and trying to be as simplistic as possible here.
Your inverter has a CT clamp, applied to the incoming mains, it will detect when your home is needing power, and supply this via your battery.
If you plug in solar to a circuit, then it (AFAIK) supplies power to whatever is on the same circuit*
Your inverter would not see a load on the CT clamp, so it would not supply energy. Only when your demand more power than the plug in solar can provide, will your battery supply the remainder. I do not know for example, if the spare power can charge it up, I feel this might not be possible at all.
*This is how I understand it, I could be wrong! It could perhaps push power back to your consumer unit, and the spare energy can flow around other circuits in your home

Not sure if I would drop around £1,000 on two panels, better saved in a pot for putting on roof solar in the long term, unless you have plans to move home.
