Australian states NSW, SA and SE QLD have launched a free electricity for homeowner during 3 hours in the middle of the day (NSW 11am-2pm) capped at 24kWh.
If we use 'Forced Charge' which uses grid with setting of 8kW, this means battery charges at 8kW. However, if we turn on other loads, and solar generation drops to zero (like a cloud cover), then grid import increases more than 8kW resulting exceeding 24kWh free energy cap at the end of 3 hours.
Therefore, the 'Forced Charge' mode needs a grid importing limit similar to the setting in the 'Peak Shaving'
Or make the 'Peak Shaving' mode available in the 'Mode Scheduler'
At the moment 'Peak Shaving' is not listed under the 'Mode Scheduler'
Totally agree that Peak Shaving mode should be made available in the Mode Scheduler.
I was trying to charge my EV and battery at the same time on my KH8 inverter using Force Charge mode using Mode Scheduler during the 3 hours free Solar Sharer period. Based on the Force Charge logic, the inverter will only import from grid up to the rated capacity of the inverter, i.e. 8kW. That mean when I am charging my EV at 7kW, it is only importing 1kW to charge my battery even though PV is producing only 1kW.
When I manually turn on the Peak Shaving mode and set the SoC to 100% and power to 16kW, the inverter will charge the battery at 8kW and my EV at 7kW. My PV was generating 1kW and the grid import was 14kW - exactly what I wanted it to do.
Either
1. Modify the logic of Force Charge to allow grid import greater than the inverter rated capacity; or
2. Make Peak Shaving available in Mode Scheduler.
